…for years.

Gun control laws do not control guns. They control law abiding citizens and turns them into puppets of a tyrannical government.
I’m sorry for the loved ones effected by this shooting. This shooting would have occurred even if the assault weapons ban was in place. This shooting would not have occurred if we didn’t create gun free zones where people that are trained in the use of firearms were allowed to stand watch over our most precious commodity.

And as usual, the Democrats can’t let a good crisis go to waste and the first thing out of their collective cock holes is that we need to ban guns. Sorry morons, that isn’t going to fix the problem, ask Chicago. Guns have been banned in Chicago for years, and their crime and murder rate is through the roof. Guess who doesn’t have guns. That’s right, the people who need them to defend themselves against the thugs of Chicago. Rahm Emanuel approves, I’m sure.

My heart hurts for the parents and loved ones of all these victims. This tragedy is one that I can only imagine how they feel. My condolences to them all.

However, a knee-jerk reaction as is happening with the liberals and media, but I repeat myself, is not how this issue should be addressed.

What needs to be addressed is the fact that in America, mental illness (Read this: I am Adam Lanza’s Mother) is treated only after the person with the illness commits a crime. Then, they are placed into the correctional institutions around the country, where they are not given the kind of treatment that they need, are released again and bad things happen. In this case, the shooter had mental issues, but was not being treated for them effectively. Let’s ban mental illness.

A gun in the hands of any of the six adults that were killed, would have stopped the killing. Gun free zones are targets of opportunity that evil people will use to their advantage. I think that all teachers that are comfortable with firearms should be trained in defensive handgun tactics and be allowed to carry on school grounds. Once this is done, people that have issues, won’t think a school is a safe place to go kill people.

In China, where guns are banned, a knife wielding man stabbed 23 children. Let’s ban all knives.

Here’s a piece from Thomas Sowell.  A sane man if there ever was one.

Invincible Ignorance
By Thomas Sowell

Must every tragic mass shooting bring out the shrill ignorance of “gun control” advocates?

The key fallacy of so-called gun control laws is that such laws do not in fact control guns. They simply disarm law-abiding citizens, while people bent on violence find firearms readily available.

If gun control zealots had any respect for facts, they would have discovered this long ago, because there have been too many factual studies over the years to leave any serious doubt about gun control laws being not merely futile but counterproductive.

Places and times with the strongest gun control laws have often been places and times with high murder rates. Washington, D.C., is a classic example, but just one among many.

When it comes to the rate of gun ownership, that is higher in rural areas than in urban areas, but the murder rate is higher in urban areas. The rate of gun ownership is higher among whites than among blacks, but the murder rate is higher among blacks. For the country as a whole, hand gun ownership doubled in the late 20th century, while the murder rate went down.

…and why it’s a failure.
This is a good article that discusses the gun control debate.

I’d comment more on it, but I don’t have the time. You should already know where I stand on this issue.

An honest debate about gun violence
By Mark Goldblatt

Few things in American public life are as predictable as gun control advocates taking to the airwaves and editorial pages in the immediate aftermath of a shooting spree to call for more stringent gun control measures. The summer of 2012 was a banner season for anti-gun rhetoric since it featured not one but two horrific incidents: the July 20th massacre of patrons at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, and the August 5th massacre of worshippers at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

The absolute worst time to engage in such a debate is in the immediate aftermath of a shooting, with our emotions still raw, and with images of the carnage still fresh in our minds — which, of course, is the reason the political left wants to have the debate while the yellow police tape is still up at the crime scenes. But as time passes, the potential for a saner debate increases. To ask, for example, whether a civilian should be allowed to purchase a high-capacity “drum magazine” for a semi-automatic weapon, as the Colorado shooter was allegedly able to do, is not to dismantle the Second Amendment. Would such a restriction be the proverbial camel’s nose under the tent? Maybe. But it’s not an unreasonable question to ask.

That debate, however, has nothing to do with the broader problem of gun violence in the United States. Though both the Colorado and Wisconsin massacres were violent and did involve guns, they were aberrations. Legislation aimed at reducing the likelihood or deadliness of such incidents will have little or no impact on how many Americans get shot and killed from year to year.

…of unloaded rifles and shotguns.
This state is out of control. The morons in the state legislature keep passing laws that don’t do anything to curb crime, and continue to erode the Second Amendment rights of all Californians.
This state sucks.
Democrats suck.
Time to get the hell out of this state. I’m thinking of just walking away from everything and starting over in a free state.

Senate approves ban on open carry of rifles
Don Thompson

California would bar the public display of rifles and shotguns in most cities and towns, under a bill approved by the state Senate on Monday.

The measure responds to gun rights advocates who took to openly carrying unloaded long guns to protest another bill that became law last year. That measure prohibited the public display of unloaded handguns.

The ban was sought by the state police chiefs association and the Peace Officers Research Association of California, which represents local, state and federal law enforcement officers. They said it was causing confusion and alarm for officers and citizens who couldn’t tell if the guns were loaded.

“The problem right now is we have those individuals who are brandishing shotguns, as well as rifles, in the public arenas. It’s been a threat to police officers,” said Sen. Kevin de Leon, D-Los Angeles, who carried the bill in the Senate.

19 people shot in overnight shootings across Chicago
By Peter Nickeas

Nineteen people were shot across the South and West sides from Thursday evening through early Friday morning — 13 of them wounded over a 30-minute period, authorities say.

The overnight shootings peaked between 9:15 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. That’s when eight people, many of them teens, were shot at 79th Street and Essex Avenue about 9:30 p.m.

Then two men were wounded in the Ida B. Wells / Darrow Homes complex at about 9:25 p.m., police said. The men, 27 and 33, were shot in the 600 block of East 37th Street and taken to the University of Chicago Hospitals, police said. The younger man was shot in the head and the other in the right arm, Gaines said.

Around the same time, two other men were wounded in the arms in a drive-by shooting in the 2900 block of West 39th Place in the Brighton Park neighborhood.

…into the Cyber Security Bill that is in the Senate right now.

These assholes want to limit high capacity magazines and only allow 10 round magazines. This will NOT stop any violence that some deranged asshole might do to others, it’s just the same feel good bullshit that the Democrats are famous for. It’s illogical, but it really, really makes them feel good to CONTROL the masses. It’s always about the CONTROL. If the Democrats can’t CONTROL you and the rest of America, then they just don’t feel good about America.

Ever heard of creeping incrementalism?

Write your Senator, especially if they’re a Democrat douche bag and tell them to fuck off when it comes to gun CONTROL of any kind. They do NOT have a mandate for this.

In fact, all these assholes that vote for this need to hear it from you by being fired in the next election, even if it’s your asshole, which is the point of this. Only you can fire the asshole that supposedly represents you. Unless you live in Kalifornia. That’s a lost cause.

Democratic senators have offered an amendment to the cybersecurity bill that would limit the purchase of high capacity gun magazines for some consumers.

Shortly after the Cybersecurity Act gained Senate approval to proceed to filing proposed amendments and a vote next week, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), a sponsor of the gun control amendment, came to the floor to defend the idea of implementing some “reasonable” gun control measures.

The amendment was sponsored by Democratic Sens. Frank Lautenberg (N.J.), Barbara Boxer (Calif.), Jack Reed (R.I.), Bob Menendez (N.J.), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Schumer and Dianne Feinstein (Calif.). S.A. 2575 would make it illegal to transfer or possess large capacity feeding devices such as gun magazines, belts, feed stripes and drums of more than 10 rounds of ammunition with the exception of .22 caliber rim fire ammunition.
