Excellent article on the Trayvon Martin case.

Trayvon Martin’s Final Hour

By Jack Cashill

On the rainy night of February 26, 2012, neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman shot and killed an unarmed seventeen-year-old named Trayvon Martin. Three months later, a regular at the Conservative Treehouse blog known as Diwataman discovered the raw video of Martin’s visit to the 7-11 that fateful night and initiated arguably the best bit of blogging detective work since the busting of Dan Rather’s Air National Guard scam eight years earlier.

“I think Trayvon may know these three guys,” Diwataman commented in reference to a trio of hooded young men who entered the store almost immediately after Martin left. For a variety of good reasons, Diwataman labeled the guys “the three stooges,” and the name stuck. What Diwataman discovered quickly is that the blogger “noneyobusiness” had already come to the same conclusion. Together, they and other “Treepers” from the Treehouse — “People help each other out,” says Diwataman — reconstructed Martin’s final hour in a way that was wildly at odds with the scenario advanced by the major media but much closer to the truth. In all versions, the iconic bag of Skittles is at the heart of the story.

On March 7, 2012, in the first national news story on the case, Reuters led with the Skittles angle: “Trayvon Martin was shot dead after he took a break from watching NBA All-Star game television coverage to walk 10 minutes to a convenience store to buy snacks including Skittles candy requested by his 13-year-old brother, Chad.” Reuters attributed this information to Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump. “What do the police find in his pocket? Skittles,” Crump told Reuters. “A can of Arizona ice tea in his jacket pocket and Skittles in his front pocket for his brother Chad.”

…talks about and shoots some semi-automatic weapons.

…for years.

Gun control laws do not control guns. They control law abiding citizens and turns them into puppets of a tyrannical government.
I’m sorry for the loved ones effected by this shooting. This shooting would have occurred even if the assault weapons ban was in place. This shooting would not have occurred if we didn’t create gun free zones where people that are trained in the use of firearms were allowed to stand watch over our most precious commodity.

And as usual, the Democrats can’t let a good crisis go to waste and the first thing out of their collective cock holes is that we need to ban guns. Sorry morons, that isn’t going to fix the problem, ask Chicago. Guns have been banned in Chicago for years, and their crime and murder rate is through the roof. Guess who doesn’t have guns. That’s right, the people who need them to defend themselves against the thugs of Chicago. Rahm Emanuel approves, I’m sure.

My heart hurts for the parents and loved ones of all these victims. This tragedy is one that I can only imagine how they feel. My condolences to them all.

However, a knee-jerk reaction as is happening with the liberals and media, but I repeat myself, is not how this issue should be addressed.

What needs to be addressed is the fact that in America, mental illness (Read this: I am Adam Lanza’s Mother) is treated only after the person with the illness commits a crime. Then, they are placed into the correctional institutions around the country, where they are not given the kind of treatment that they need, are released again and bad things happen. In this case, the shooter had mental issues, but was not being treated for them effectively. Let’s ban mental illness.

A gun in the hands of any of the six adults that were killed, would have stopped the killing. Gun free zones are targets of opportunity that evil people will use to their advantage. I think that all teachers that are comfortable with firearms should be trained in defensive handgun tactics and be allowed to carry on school grounds. Once this is done, people that have issues, won’t think a school is a safe place to go kill people.

In China, where guns are banned, a knife wielding man stabbed 23 children. Let’s ban all knives.

Here’s a piece from Thomas Sowell.  A sane man if there ever was one.

Invincible Ignorance
By Thomas Sowell

Must every tragic mass shooting bring out the shrill ignorance of “gun control” advocates?

The key fallacy of so-called gun control laws is that such laws do not in fact control guns. They simply disarm law-abiding citizens, while people bent on violence find firearms readily available.

If gun control zealots had any respect for facts, they would have discovered this long ago, because there have been too many factual studies over the years to leave any serious doubt about gun control laws being not merely futile but counterproductive.

Places and times with the strongest gun control laws have often been places and times with high murder rates. Washington, D.C., is a classic example, but just one among many.

When it comes to the rate of gun ownership, that is higher in rural areas than in urban areas, but the murder rate is higher in urban areas. The rate of gun ownership is higher among whites than among blacks, but the murder rate is higher among blacks. For the country as a whole, hand gun ownership doubled in the late 20th century, while the murder rate went down.

…I received this newsletter from the Association for Gun Rights.
My thoughts and prayers go to the victims of this tragedy, but the knee-jerk reaction that is typical of liberals isn’t what will solve the issue of schools being targeted by psychopaths. The school was already a gun free zone. Gun free zones are ripe targets for deranged people. They know that there will be no one there that can resist.

It’s time to arm the teachers in our schools. If only one of those six teachers was armed, it would have ended a lot sooner, and the gunman may have avoided the school altogether if it is well known that the teachers may be armed. Banning guns doesn’t work. Ask China.

The murders committed in Connecticut earlier today have left me feeling sad and angry.

Quite frankly, I’ve had difficulty staying focused, listening to news reports and thinking about my wife and two young children aged 8 and 11 at home.

I can only imagine the pain the parents and families of those who were murdered at the hands of this evil individual are feeling right now.

My prayers and those of my staff here at the National Association for Gun Rights go out to the families of the victims.

But already, like in so many cases from years past, the gun control lobby is shamelessly using the blood of innocents to advance their anti-gun agenda.

Right now, members of the Washington, D.C. gun control lobby are gathered on the street in front of the White House.

Their hands are wrapped around the black iron gates surrounding the complex and they’re screaming at the top of their lungs.

They aren’t there praying for the victims who died at the hands of a murderer.

One top gun control lobbyist scoffed at the idea of this gathering being called a “vigil,” saying they gathered for the sole purpose of “pressuring Barack Obama to take action.”

Right on cue, President Obama threw them a not-so-subtle bone when he urged “meaningful action” on gun control.

And just a few hours later, billionaire New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg demanded President Obama restrict gun rights.

Make no mistake — this is a dangerous time for the Second Amendment.

Like you, I’m outraged that not even 12 hours after the shooting, the gun control vultures are circling the victims.

The enemies of our Second Amendment rights want you and me to back off and give in to their demands.

But no defender of our gun rights should apologize for the horrific actions of a deranged lunatic.

What you won’t hear on TV or radio or read in the newspaper is that the anti-gun Brady Campaign lists Connecticut as having the 5th “strongest” gun control laws in the entire country.

Connecticut’s strict gun control laws prevent law-abiding individuals who could’ve potentially stopped this massacre from getting access to firearms.

In other words, the teachers and administrators entrusted with the security of the students were sitting ducks, and so were the children.

You also won’t hear that Connecticut law already bans at least one of the firearms that may have been used in these murders.

The gun-grabbers have spent decades in states like Connecticut passing gun control laws that do nothing more than empower criminals.

As Second Amendment activists we MUST be vigilant in these times — not just in the defense of our loved ones, but in defense of our right to keep and bear arms.

Gun grabbers seize upon every outrage and crime, so we must always be prepared to fight back to protect our Second Amendment rights.

You and I both know that Barack Obama and the gun control crowd will work every angle of this massacre as an excuse to restrict our rights.

Please do two things tonight: pray for the victims and their families, and then prepare for a gun control onslaught like we’ve never seen before.

Your continued engagement and activism could be the only thing that stands between our gun rights and President Obama’s coming gun control schemes.

…as the judge is removed for not being impartial.
This is pretty pathetic. This asshole should have been tried in the same year (2009) this happened, or at the latest in 2010.

Here it is three years later, and the Army is still dicking around with this guy.

Judge Removed in Fort Hood Shooting Rampage Case

The military’s highest court ousted the judge in the Fort Hood shooting case Monday and threw out his order to have the suspect’s beard forcibly shaved before his court-martial.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces ruled that Col. Gregory Gross didn’t appear impartial while presiding over the case of Maj. Nidal Hasan, who faces the death penalty if convicted in the 2009 shootings on the Texas Army post that killed 13 people and wounded more than two dozen others.

But the court said it was not ruling on whether the judge’s order violated Hasan’s religious rights. Hasan has argued that his beard is a requirement of his Muslim faith, although facial hair violates Army regulations.

“Should the next military judge find it necessary to address (Hasan’s) beard, such issues should be addressed and litigated anew,” judges wrote in the ruling.

Hasan appealed after Gross ordered that he must be clean-shaven or be forcibly shaved before his court-martial, a military trial.

The court-martial had been set to begin three months ago but has been on hold pending the appeals.

…was awesome!

A friend came out on Sunday to do some shooting.
We hit the desert with his wife and daughter, and my son and his girl friend.
There must have been 20 guns out there between all of us.

I had my Kel-Tec SU-16, Yugoslavian SKS, Remington 870, Beretta 96FS, and Ruger SD-9.
He brought out a variety of guns, including a Remington 700ST, and a .338 Lapua. He also had a AR-15 that was decked out too.

My shoulder is sore as hell today. That generally means a good day of shooting.

The Lapua is new to him and we zeroed it in at close range. It was too windy to dial it in at long range, so getting the close in zero was all we did. That took 25 rounds, because we started out shooting at a smaller target, and making the adjustments was hard to do. Once we switched to a larger target, the zeroing was a breeze.

The .338 was making Swiss cheese out of a 1/2″ – 3/8″ thick metal plate. The Remington was drilling in deep, but didn’t penetrate the plate.
After it was zeroed, he let me pop off a few rounds with it. I hit what I was aiming at, and going through it like it wasn’t even there. Impressive rifle.
I’ll gladly trade my left nut for one.

The Remington 700 was a tack driver as well. Shoots nice and the kick isn’t too bad with it. I think I’ll invest in one of those, I can’t afford a Lapua. Those are beyond my ability to pay for, since it’s discretionary spending for me.

My Beretta performed flawlessly as usual. Not a hick-up one. Eats ammo like a fat boy in a buffet. I have had this pistol for several years. It’s been dropped on the floor, it’s hit the dirt. It’s a reliable gun. I would bet my life on it that it will fire when I want it to fire, and it will hit what I aim at. I recommend the Beretta 92, or 96 without hesitation. In fact, I plan on investing in the Beretta PX-4 Storm, probably the compact version. If it is anything like the 96 in reliability, I’m all over it.

The Ruger SD-9 left something to be desired. I am not happy with that pistol. I don’t think it’s reliable enough for self defense. It continuously jammed on me no matter what I tried with it. I keep my guns clean and this one just wouldn’t fire like it should. I am really disappointed with it. I wouldn’t recommend buying one of these for self defense.

My Kel-Tec fired very well too. I was throwing Wolf ammo through it and had no issues with the ammo.

We fired off a couple shotguns at clays as well. Good stuff.

Proud. The moment when you realize your son can get your back if it’s needed. The boy was hammering targets like it was nothing. A chip off the old block head. He prefers iron sights to boot. Just like the old man. A scope is great for the long distance shit, but anything closer than 500m needs nothing but a good old iron sight for raining bullets on the target. He was firing my pistols with great accuracy and he was unstoppable with the rifles.
Good shit. Nice to know if I need it, he can cover my ass.

We introduced his girl friend to shooting as well. She’d gone once before with someone else, but didn’t do much shooting. I had her shooting my Kel-Tec and Yugo SKS by the time we were done. She also fired both pistols, and one of the .22s that was out there . She did well for someone unaccustomed to guns. I think we have a new shooter in America. Good shit.

All in all, we had a great day celebrating our Second Amendment right.

I’m hoping that we can get more folks out there next time. That was a fun day.

…already.

It’s the same shit every time some asshole kills more than three people at once. Yet, there is no outcry when cars kill multiple people to ban cars.

It’s not the guns, it’s the idiot that shot all those people that did the deed. If he had used explosives instead, then what? It’s already illegal to have explosives, it’s already illegal to kill someone, regardless of the method, or tool used to do it.

Taking away guns just gives the government more power over the people.

It’s tragic that this occurred, but it is precisely for this reason that others should be allowed to freely be armed. The number of victims would have been a lot lower if there was someone else armed in that theater.

As Robert Heinlein said: “An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.”

I feel sorrow for the victims in this tragedy, but taking away the people’s ability to fight back against a tyrannical government isn’t going to solve any problems, it will just create more.

‘Dark Knight’ Shooting To Be Exploited For Political Grist

Second amendment, ‘conspiracy theorists’ to be blamed for incident

Within hours of the tragic shooting in Aurora, Colorado at a screening of the new Batman movie, the political machine is already gearing up to exploit the incident as a tool to demonize the second amendment and characterize Americans who are against big government as extremists.
