H1B visas are killing American jobs. Don’t buy into the lies.

Upon Closer inspection

A source on Capitol Hill has informed me of an amazing briefing today by a “Who’s Who” of industry lobbying groups (PNAE, CompeteAmerica, American Immigration Lawyers Association, FWD.us etc.), presented to congressional staff. The meeting was closed to the press, which is surprising at first — what lobbyist doesn’t want his/her message to be spread far and wide? — but the reason for excluding the press turns out to be quite startling.

The TITLE of the briefing says it all:  FACTS YOU CAN USE To Prove That High-Skilled Immigration Is Good for the Economy. Prove to whom? Since the “you” is the congressional staff, it’s clear that the briefing is intended to help politicians convince their skeptical constituents that H-1B is good for them. I assume there is nothing illegal in that, but it is incredibly sleazy.

The document itself consists of a rehash of “studies” done…

Earth Day: 22 Ways to Think about the Climate-Change Debate : The Freeman : Foundation for Economic Education

Reasonable people can disagree about the nature and extent of climate change. But no one should sally forth into this hostile territory without reason and reflection.

“Some scientists make ‘period, end of story’ claims,” writes biologist and naturalist Daniel Botkin in the Wall Street Journal, “that human-induced global warming definitely, absolutely either is or isn’t happening.”

These scientists, as well as the network of activists and cronies their science supports, I will refer to as the Climate Orthodoxy. These are the folks who urge, generally, that (a) global warming is occurring, (b) it is almost entirely man-made, and (c) it is occurring at a rate and severity that makes it an impending planetary emergency requiring political action. A Climate Agnostic questions at least one of those premises.

Trying to point out the problems of the Climate Orthodoxy to its adherents is like trying to talk the Archbishop of Canterbury into questioning the existence of God. In that green temple, many climatologists and climate activists have become one in the same: fueled both by government grants and zealous fervor

Watts Up With That?

Using the EPA, CEQ and other federal agencies to fundamentally transform America

president_official_portrait_hiresGuest essay by Paul Driessen

ISIS terrorists continue to butcher people, while hacking into a French television network. Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons remains on track. In a nation of 320 million people, American businesses hired only 126,000 workers in March, amid a pathetic 62% labor participation rate. Wages and incomes are stagnant.

And yet President Obama remains fixated on one obsession: dangerous manmade climate change. He blames it for everything from global temperatures that have been stable for 18 years, to hurricanes that have not made US landfall for nearly 9.5 years, and even asthma and allergies. He is determined to use it to impose energy, environmental and economic policies that will “fundamentally transform” our nation.

He launched his war on coal with a promise that companies trying to build new coal-fired power plants would go bankrupt…

Thermometers show that the US has been cooling for 80 years, since the very hot years of the 1930’s

This cooling trend is unacceptable for their theory, funding and political needs, so NCDC simply alters the data to make it look like the US is warming.

They accomplish this transformation using a spectacular hockey stick of data tampering, which has skyrocketed since 1980, and is approaching two degrees.

Most of this post-1980 hockey stick appears to be due to loss of rural station data. They use an algorithm where missing temperatures are filled in with temperatures from other stations in the same general geographic area. The missing data is marked in their data set with an ‘E’

In 1980, around 5% of their data was marked with an ‘E’. Now it is over 40%. Most of the missing data is from cooler rural stations, which…

EPA Water rules

The EPA is out of control.

We have discussed this irritating new definition of the waters of the United States proposed by the EPA that would allow them and the Corps of Engineers to regulate all kinds of private property and any surface waters they please.

The Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation, or AMO, is an ongoing series of long-duration changes in the sea surface temperature of the North Atlantic Ocean, with cool and warm phases that may last for 20-40 years at a time and a difference of about 1°F between extremes. These changes are natural and have been occurring for at least the last 1,000 years.

It is known to have significant climatic impacts on the Northern Hemisphere. According to NOAA:

  • Recent research suggests that the AMO is related to the past occurrence of major droughts in the Midwest and the Southwest. When the AMO is in its warm phase, these droughts tend to be more frequent and/or severe (prolonged?). Vice-versa for negative AMO. Two of the most severe droughts of the 20th century occurred during the positive AMO between 1925 and 1965: the Dustbowl of the 1930s and the 1950s…
