…here’s today’s reading list.

I’ll add to it if I read more.

It’s Thursday and after last night’s ass whoopin’ it’s time for some booty call.
Enjoy!

…from the debate last night was this.

It’s actually a segment:

MR. ROMNEY: Jim, let’s — we — we’ve gone on a lot of topics there, and — so I’ve got to take — it’s going to take a minute to go from Medicaid to schools to —

PRESIDENT OBAMA: (Inaudible.)

MR. LEHRER: Come back to Medicaid, here, yeah, yeah, right.

MR. ROMNEY: — oil to tax breaks and companies overseas. So let’s go through them one by one. First of all, the Department of Energy has said the tax break for oil companies is $2.8 billion a year. And it’s actually an accounting treatment, as you know, that’s been in place for a hundred years. Now —

PRESIDENT OBAMA: It’s time to end it.

MR. ROMNEY: And — and in one year, you provided $90 billion in breaks to the green energy world. Now, I like green energy as well, but that’s about 50 years’ worth of what oil and gas receives, and you say Exxon and Mobil — actually, this $2.8 billion goes largely to small companies, to drilling operators and so forth.

But you know, if we get that tax rate from 35 percent down to 25 percent, why, that $2.8 billion is on the table. Of course it’s on the table. That’s probably not going to survive, you get that rate down to 25 percent.

But — but don’t forget, you put $90 billion — like 50 years worth of breaks — into solar and wind, to — to Solyndra and Fisker and Tesla and Ener1. I mean, I — I had a friend who said, you don’t just pick the winners and losers; you pick the losers. All right? So — so this is not — this is not the kind of policy you want to have if you want to get America energy-secure.

The second topic, which is you said you get a deduction for getting a plant overseas. Look, I’ve been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you’re talking about. I maybe need to get a new accountant.

(Emphasis mine).

…exposed from the debate.
This one is on the so called “war savings” that Obama was yammering about last night.

Of course nice people call it a “gimmick” I call it a lie.  You decide.

Spending “War Savings” Is Still a Budget Gimmick
Emily Goff

During the first presidential debate, President Obama reiterated a policy proposal that barely holds water. His proposal to use so-called war savings from the troop drawdowns in Iraq and Afghanistan to pay for more domestic spending is nothing short of a budget gimmick. It would also justify continued federal spending excesses.

Obama argued for taking “some of the money that we’re saving as we wind down two wars to rebuild America and that we reduce our deficit in a balanced way that allows us to make these critical investments [on education, transportation, and infrastructure].”

It’s a myth that merits debunking.

Myth: Money not spent on wars overseas counts as budget savings.

Fact: The overseas military operations are winding down, so the federal government will spend less money in that area. Counting those spending reductions as new savings is an elementary budget gimmick.

…in California.

Just what I need. Higher gas prices. This shit is out of control.

Refinery problems send California gas prices skyrocketing

By Gary Richards

When Errol Emrich drove by a Shell station in his San Jose neighborhood last weekend, regular gas was selling for $4.05 a gallon.

On Monday, it was $4.15. On Tuesday, $4.25. And this weekend? Analysts say it could reach a whopping $4.40.

Problems at California refineries have slashed supplies across the state, cutting fuel production and raising wholesale prices — the price stations pay for their gasoline — by as much as 73 cents, to levels not seen since 2007.

And that almost certainly will boost prices at the pump again soon.

“California gasoline prices may surge in the next five days, perhaps to levels higher than February’s $4.33-a-gallon average,” said Patrick DeHaan, an analyst with Gasbuddy.com. “It is within the realm of possibility that average prices reach near $4.40 or even higher if the situation worsens.”

Bloomberg News reported that Exxon Mobil’s 150,000-barrel-a-day Torrance refinery lost power Monday and may suffer production problems for another week.

Obama appoints wife of Univision owner to UN diplomatic post

By El Nuevo Herald Staff Report

President Barack Obama appointed Cheryl Saban, wife of the owner of Univision, as U.S. representative to the United Nations, according to reports from various news blogs.

According to the Politico blog, Haim Saban, owner of the television network, backed Hillary Clinton in 2008, but during the summer donated $1 million to groups supporting the campaigns of Democrats. And according to another blog in Spanish of Yahoo, the appointment of Cheryl Saban to the diplomatic post was made last Wednesday, the day before Obama appeared at a forum at the University of Miami hosted by Univision.

…the debate last night?
Obama didn’t do so well.

Romney hit a lot of the right points and hammered away on a couple issues that needed to be hammered on. I didn’t think he was hard enough on him, but it isn’t me that needs convincing.
His level demeanor and knowledge of the facts along with the punches and counters punches that he threw were about right for the fence sitter.

If you’re a die hard conservative, that speech wasn’t for you. It was meant to pull the undecided voter, the one’s that sit in the middle of the road, towards the Romney campaign.

If you pay attention to politics a lot, which I do, then the speech may have fell a little flat, but I looked at it as if I were some podunk mom and pop outfit that doesn’t pay any attention to the world around them and only wakes up a month out from the election. In that regard, Romney spanked Obama in this debate.

Here’s a round up of the left/media losing their minds:

Romney goes on offense, forcing Obama to defend record
By Dan Balz and Amy Gardner, Published: October 3

DENVER — An energetic Mitt Romney launched a series of attacks against President Obama here Wednesday night, calling into question the president’s record on the economy, health care and the deficit, and arguing that he would take the country in a fundamentally different direction.

Obama sought to parry Romney’s criticisms, charging that his presidential rival favors a top-down approach to the economy that would reward the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the middle class and that the details of the Republican’s proposals don’t add up. But he found himself on the defensive repeatedly during their first debate, held at the University of Denver.

Romney came into the 90-minute exchange after several difficult weeks but appeared rejuvenated by the opportunity to take his case directly to Obama and the American people. He was well prepared and aggressive as he hammered the president. The contrast with Obama was striking, as the president appeared less energetic even as he rebutted some of Romney’s toughest attacks.

The debate is likely to give Romney what he needed most, which is a fresh look from voters — at least those who are undecided or open to changing their minds — and will change the conversation about the campaign, which for the past two weeks has been tilted in the president’s favor. Romney now faces the challenge of trying to build on his performance and keep the president on the defensive in the days ahead.
