Memorial day.

A day where we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom.

In loving memory of my friend Douglas Amuel LaBouff.
1969-2006
KIA Iraq
Rest easy, sleep well my brother.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell…

It is the
VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

Doug was my battle buddy during OBC in 1996. He was a damn good man, and I had the pleasure of working with him in the summer of 2005 when I was assigned to MNSTC-I. He is sorely missed by many.
