The Second Amendment applies to the states, just like the rest of our rights.

Here’s the decision.

Here’s CATO’s take on the decision.

Stole this from Castle Argghhh!

This is too beautiful not to share.

There’s Taps, Last Call, and then there is this.

As a former trumpet player, I can attest to the FLAWLESS performance of this piece by the young minstrel.

She is a mere 13 years old.

*Caution. It may bring a tear to one’s eye.

60 years later.

I read the book Battle for Korea: The Associated Press History of the Korean Conflict not that long ago. If you are interested, it is an easy read with a lot of AP photos from the war. I recommend it.

The men and women that fought in that war suffered greatly at the hands of the North Koreans, Chinese and the weather. They endured what most people couldn’t even begin to imagine.

I spent three winters in Korea. I know exactly how cold it gets and have a frame of reference when I read their stories of the bitter cold that sweeps across Korea out of Siberia. I don’t complain about the heat anymore.

Here’s a few posts around the web related to this.

God Bless these men and women. They deserve far greater respect and admiration than they’ve gotten.

60th anniversary of the Korean War

June 25, 1950. [Updated]

I have owned a Kel-Tec SU 16B for a while now. It’s a good rifle.

Here’s a pic:

I changed the forearm bipod, which I didn’t like, to a shortened forearm and replaced the stock with the pistol grip adjustable stock. Good shit.

Think I’ll go pop off a few rounds this weekend.

This is priceless. The stupid is strong in this one.

We have yet another convert to the right to keep and bear arms.

Here’s a good read from John Stossel:

Guns Save Lives
By John Stossel

You know what the mainstream media think about guns and our freedom to carry them.

Pierre Thomas of ABC: “When someone gets angry or when they snap, they are going to be able to have access to weapons.”

Chris Matthews of MSNBC: “I wonder if in a free society violence is always going to be a part of it if guns are available.”

Keith Olbermann, who usually can’t be topped for absurdity: “Organizations like the NRA … are trying to increase deaths by gun in this country.”

“Trying to?” Well, I admit that I bought that nonsense for years. Living in Manhattan, working at ABC, everyone agreed that guns are evil. And that the NRA is evil. (Now that the NRA has agreed to a sleazy deal with congressional Democrats on political speech censorship, maybe some of its leaders are evil, but that’s for another column.)

Here’s another great article from Thomas Sowell.

Is U.S. Now On Slippery Slope To Tyranny?
By THOMAS SOWELL

When Adolf Hitler was building up the Nazi movement in the 1920s, leading up to his taking power in the 1930s, he deliberately sought to activate people who did not normally pay much attention to politics.

Such people were a valuable addition to his political base, since they were particularly susceptible to Hitler’s rhetoric and had far less basis for questioning his assumptions or his conclusions.

“Useful idiots” was the term supposedly coined by V.I. Lenin to describe similarly unthinking supporters of his dictatorship in the Soviet Union.

Put differently, a democracy needs informed citizens if it is to thrive, or ultimately even survive.

In our times, American democracy is being dismantled, piece by piece, before our very eyes by the current administration in Washington, and few people seem to be concerned about it.
