Visiting San Francisco was interesting. I spent Thursday and Friday at the VA Medical Center, and Friday afternoon and Saturday morning touring around the place.

San Francisco minus the homos is fantastic. If it weren’t for the liberal politics of the city, it wouldn’t be a bad place. It is very scenic along the coast line, which was expected, and the historical buildings, including the City Hall were very cool. It’s a little jumpy, I had to hold the shutter open a little longer than usual.

Friday afternoon, the family and I went out towards Fort Baker and checked out the Golden Gate Bridge from there. I traipsed up the stairs to Battery Yates. Wow. What a view. I can see why it was chosen as a battery location. It overlooked the entrance to SF Bay and the areas to the east and north of the bridge. I wish I had more time to explore the old forts and batteries along the coast. That, in and of itself, would be worth the trip.

We also went to Point Bonita, which is across the Golden Gate Bridge in Sausalito. Point Bonita is part of the largest urban national park in the United States, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. There was a trail that you can walk to the light house which had some really cool views.

Unfortunately, the light house was closed, but we enjoyed the scenery none the less. From there, we drove over to Battery Mendell just a short hop north of the light house. This battery was situated at the entrance to the bay. It housed a couple of “disappearing” guns that had an eight mile range. There was another battery to the east behind this battery, but I didn’t get to that one.

I was disappointed in the graffiti all over the place on this historic site. Gang bangers are fucking morons and should be hung by their nuts until they are no longer capable of breeding. They ruined what would otherwise have been a fantastic journey into America’s past.

After we checked out Battery Mendell we went over to Rodeo Lagoon for some sunset pics.

This was pretty cool.

That pretty much concludes Friday. I’ll add more for Saturday and then an assessment of SF.
