I am a butter fan. Butter tastes better than margarine. I don’t care how much the margarine manufacturers claim that margarine tastes like butter, they’re full of crap.

Butter is more expensive, but I give less than a damn about that one. Butter tops margarine in everything, including health wise. The crap that the margarine people spout is for the most part not true.

Butter just tastes better to me.

Monday, January 2nd, 2012 | From: Food and RecipesWhy Butter’s Better For many years, a major rift has divided this country. I’m not talking about urban versus rural, or even Democrat versus Republican. The split I’m talking about is the ongoing clash between butter and margarine.

Growing up, I’m not sure I was very aware of the difference. My mother bought and used margarine almost exclusively – a residual, most likely, of her lean 1940s upbringing. It didn’t matter much to me; I was used to it, and we all just called it “butter,” anyway.

Over the years, though, I began to notice the butter served at my grandmother’s house on holidays was a lot tastier than the stuff mom spread on my morning toast. Eventually, I came to understand the difference, and began to look forward to my rare encounters with real butter.

Though mom still uses margarine in her kitchen, I’ve been a committed butter convert for years, and have never looked back. Call me extravagant or reckless, but at my house there is just no substitute for the real thing, and for plenty of reasons.

Went fishing Saturday out of Dana Wharf and caught exactly one fish.

It was a decent sized one fish though.

He was a shooting buddy as well as a co-worker.
He’ll be sorely missed.

Well, actually Big Bear was really nice. The weather kicked ass! It was warm, but not overly so. I hear L.A. suffered with 113′ heat. Sucks to be you L.A.

I think that’s funny as hell to be honest with you.

At any rate, Big Bear was pretty cool. This was a set-up where a few folks from work get together and take a camping trip. I won’t mention any names, for privacy sake, but will use fake names, a.k.a. pseudonyms.

We drove to our campsite which was located at Sorano Campground. We arrived on Friday afternoon right at 1400 hours.

I had only met one person, Sam, I work with him, or so I thought whom I had worked with.  It turns out that actually have met two more people from work. I was on an audit of Fred’s area and I knew John from seeing him a few times in my office. I actually met John early on in my start here at work.

We met their wives for the first time, and two other couples that also either work at the same place, or are neighbors.

All were very nice people.

We had dinner the first night as a group. We had hamburgers for dinner. Everyone brought their own meat, and the sides were divvied up amongst each family. This was kind of cool. We did something similar to this for breakfast Saturday, and again on Sunday night.

Dinner on Saturday was at Maggio’s pizza joint. Very good food. The place was absolutely packed! Most of the tables were taken and the take-out orders were numerous. Price wasn’t bad either.

On Saturday the family and I went fishing at a couple spots on the lake. We didn’t even get a bite, and it was rather warm in the sun. On Sunday, I again went fishing on my own in the morning.  Sam and his son Jeff were also fishing with me. They saw my truck and decided to stop and fish too.  We were all skunked this day as well.

Bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.

This morning I got up at the crack of 0630, walked the dogs, and went fishing.

I went to the same place I was on Sunday with Sam and Jeff. I caught two small trout and a pan size small mouth bass. I tossed back the trout, kept the bass and went an filled my truck up with gas before I hitched up the trailer.

Walked in this morning with “Hi babe, I caught a bass!” and handed it to her. She’s never eaten a bass before. I guess she gets her chance now. Didn’t skunk me today! The bass hit on a purple trout pattern spoon. It was fun to catch.

There were a lot of interesting times at the fire each night with everyone.

We really enjoyed this one.

There’s a lot more I could say, but I am tired after unpacking the trailer this afternoon.

I’ve been quite busy as of late.

Back to it.

That’s really all that needs to be said.

Saw them last night down in Ontario. Cinderella opened for them, they also rocked.

Both sounded excellent live. The Scorpions will be missed. Their show was probably the best live show I’ve ever seen.
They absolutely kicked ass.

Yes he hit a man so hard that he broke his neck, but he was one hell of a baller.

Former Raiders’ ‘Assassin’ Jack Tatum Dies at 61

COLUMBUS, Ohio — He was called the “Assassin.”

Jack Tatum was one of the hardest hitters in the NFL, a Pro Bowl safety who intimidated opposing players with bone-jarring tackles that helped make his Oakland Raiders one of toughest teams of its era.

He’s also a player who will always be tied to one of the game’s most tragic moments — a hit in a preseason game that left New England Patriots receiver Darryl Stingley paralyzed from the neck down.

Tatum died Tuesday at age 61 in an Oakland hospital. The cause was a massive heart attack, according to friend and former Ohio State teammate John Hicks. Tatum had battled diabetes and other health problems for years, Hicks said.

The collision with Stingley happened Aug. 12, 1978, at Oakland Coliseum.

I’ve shelled out over $500 in the last couple of days. I think I have done my part.

Hotel, gas, food, clothing, gyro RC helicopter, etc.

L.A. can kiss my lily white ass.

It’s hotter than Hades here though. 109 seems to be the norm, but the car temp gauge read 116 at one point yesterday.

Last night there was a thunderstorm that rolled through here. It’s still pushing easterly this morning. I don’t hear the thunder anymore, but I can still see the dark clouds off in the distance.

The local Walmart still sells guns, whereas the ones in California do not.

Arizona is an open carry state, yet I haven’t seen anyone carrying since I got here.

No slaughter and mayhem in the streets either.

I’ll get back to it on Monday, or Tuesday.

I wish I could say that to my dad, but he passed away this past April 27th.
