Military Retirees Get Screwed… Friday, Feb 24 2012

They can’t balance a budget. They slash the military’s budget. They go after the retirees to pay for the things that they were promised would be there after they did their 20 years, or better. It’s bad enough that they want to hike fees, but to do it by as much as 78% is criminal.

The Veterans did what was asked, now the government reneges on the deal. Typical.

From the Army Times:

Tricare costs would jump in budget plan
By Patricia Kime – Staff writer

Pentagon officials will continue pressing in 2013 for significantly higher Tricare fees for military retirees, including older retirees covered by Tricare for Life, as well as higher drug co-pays for all Tricare beneficiaries.

The Defense Department’s proposed 2013 budget calls for annual enrollment fees for retirees in Tricare Prime to rise next year by 30 percent to 78 percent, from the current $460 or $520 for families to between $600 and $820, depending on military retirement income.

“Working-age retirees” — those younger than 65 — also would pay annual enrollment fees for Tricare Standard and Extra: $70 for an individual and $140 for a family. These would be the first enrollment fees for Standard and Extra in Tricare history.

Deductibles for Standard and Extra also would rise by $10 for individuals and $20 for families.

FDA’s New Claim: “Your Body Is a Drug…” Thursday, Feb 2 2012

More overreaching by government. This time it’s the FDA. Now, they want to regulate your body. It’s a drug after all. When will the madness stop? The government wants to control everything in our lives, including our own bodies. You’d think that liberal assholes would be all up in arms over this overt power grab by “the man.” That sound you hear is crickets coming from the left on this.

FDA’s New Claim: “Your Body Is a Drug—and We Have the Authority to Regulate It!”

In another outrageous power-grab, FDA says your own stem cells are drugs—and stem cell therapy is interstate commerce because it affects the bottom line of FDA-approved drugs in other states!

We wish this were a joke, but it’s the US Food and Drug Administration’s latest claim in its battle with a Colorado clinic over its Regenexx-SD™ procedure, a non-surgical treatment for people suffering from moderate to severe joint or bone pain using adult stem cells.

The FDA asserts in a court document that it has the right to regulate the Centeno-Schultz Clinic for two reasons:

Stem cells are drugs and therefore fall within their jurisdiction. (The clinic argues that stem cell therapy is the practice of medicine and is therefore not within the FDA’s jurisdiction!)

The clinic is engaging in interstate commerce and is therefore subject to FDA regulation because any part of the machine or procedure that originates outside Colorado becomes interstate commerce once it enters the state. Moreover, interstate commerce is substantially affected because individuals traveling to Colorado to have the Regenexx procedure would “depress the market for out-of-state drugs that are approved by FDA.”

We discussed the very ambiguous issue of interstate commerce last September—it’s an argument the FDA frequently uses when the basis for their claim is otherwise lacking. As we noted then, the FDA holds that an “interstate commerce” test must be applied to all steps in a product’s manufacture, packaging, and distribution. This means that if any ingredient or tool used in the procedure in question was purchased out of state, the FDA would in its view have jurisdiction, just as they would if the final product had traveled across state lines.

This time the FDA just nakedly says in court documents that the agency wants to protect the market for FDA-approved drugs. No more beating around the bush—their agenda is right out in the open! This appears to be a novel interpretation of the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act (FD&C), as evidenced by the government’s failure to cite any judicial precedent for their argument.

Medicare and Fraud… Tuesday, Jan 10 2012

It’s rampant. It isn’t going anywhere. It’s part of the reason why this country is so in debt. Did I mention that? I’m quite sure I have. Yet the left wants this fraud to continue unabated. The right won’t touch it because they don’t want to scare granny, or put a lot of pressure on the providers for fear of losing even more of them.

At any rate, here’s Cato Institute’s take on it:

Agent Orange Coming to America? Wednesday, Dec 28 2011

I just read this over at Mountain Republic’s site.

This is some serious shit. Go read it.

The affects of Agent Orange after all these years is still prevalent in Vietnam. Now they want to use one of the chemicals that made up 50% of the Agent Orange that was used in Vietnam on crops here in America. This is utter madness.

Why the hell aren’t more people pissed off about this? I figure it’s due to the fact that the media (MSM) is stone silent on it.

America’s Farmlands to be Carpet-Bombed with Vietnam-era Agent Orange Chemical

by Mike Adams

A key chemical of one of the most horrifying elements of the Vietnam War — Agent Orange — may soon be unleashed on America’s farmlands. Considered by world nations to be a “Weapon of Mass Destruction” (WMD), Agent Orange was dropped in the millions of gallons on civilian populations during the Vietnam War in order to destroy foliage and poison North Vietnamese soldiers. The former president of the Vietnamese Red Cross, Professor Nhan, described it as, “…a massive violation of human rights of the civilian population, and a weapon of mass destruction.”

Go read it all.

End of an Era… Saturday, Jul 23 2011

This is a sad day for Army Medicine. There was a lot of history at this facility. Economics and a lack of upkeep are likely the reason…

Army’s Famed Hospital to Close After More Than a Century

Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the Army’s flagship hospital where privates to presidents have gone for care, is closing its doors after more than a century.

Hundreds of thousands of the nation’s war wounded from World War I to today have received treatment at Walter Reed, including 18,000 troops who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

President Dwight Eisenhower died there. So did Gens. John J. Pershing and Douglas MacArthur.

It’s where countless celebrities, from Bob Hope to quarterback Tom Brady, have stopped to show their respect to the wounded. Through the use of medical diplomacy, the center also has tended to foreign leaders.

AARP Benefits from Obamacare Tuesday, Apr 5 2011

Hot Air has a post up about this.

I’ve bitched about AARP for years. Their a bunch of sorry assed liberal asshats that are out to steal as much money from the American elderly as they possibly can.

Their lobbying efforts are all focused on the liberal agenda of Obamacare because it removes the Medicare Advantage plan which plays into the hands of AARP.

They supported this scheme of Obama and the Democretins because if it stands, seniors will be forced to go back and buy the supplemental insurance from AARP.

Pathetic.

This is from Hot Air:

Greg Hengler at Townhall puts together this stylized, noir-detective look at the “mystery” of AARP’s political support for ObamaCare.  Call it The Mystery of the Senior Swindle if you will, or How To Make A Billion Dollars Without Really Trying. All you need to do is get Congress to create a market for you by swinging a lobbying hammer around Washington DC, and let the Democrats do your dirty work for you:

Justin Bieber is a Douche… Thursday, Feb 17 2011

The political pundit from the north opens his pie-hole for all to see just how stupid he really is.

“Okay, I admit right up front that this isn’t a heavy story and that, normally, I could care less about the political opinions of pop stars. But, come on, folks. This is Justin Bieber we’re talking about here! We bloggers are a mercenary lot who’ll find reason to write about almost anything if it’ll bring us that sweet, sweet blog traffic.”

I can’t believe this little metro-sexual douche bag from Canada, who makes his living in this country, probably because, well, Canada sucks, has the nuggets to spout off about this country.

“You guys are evil,” he jokingly tells Vanessa Grigoriadis in an upcoming interview with Rolling Stone. “Canada’s the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard’s baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby’s premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.”

Despite Bieber’s belief in government-run health care, the teenage superstar insists he is non-partisan. “I’m not sure about the parties,” he says. “But whatever they have in Korea, that’s bad.”

You little crap weasel of a turd from Canada! Go back to the north and partake in that hell hole’s version of health care, where it’s “free”.  Just ask how much free really costs you idiots from the north.

“As Gutfeld reported, Bieber used the epithet when talking about our health care system. Little Justine is under the impression that Canada is the world’s best country because there anyone can go to the doctor for free. Wheeeee!

Apparently, Bieber went on to relate the sad story of his bodyguard, who had problems paying medical bills when his child was born, as his health care didn’t cover the costs. Or something. Who can be bothered to pay attention when Satan’s Metrosexual Imp is on my TV?”

I find it hard to believe that we even entertain the idea that you can even form an opinion based on your vast experience on the planet, all 17 years of it.

Do us all a favor and take your metro-sexual ass back up north and shut your pie-hole.

What a douche.

New Individual Mandate… Tuesday, Feb 1 2011

South Dakota has introduced a new bill which would mandate that all adults 21 or older buy a firearm “sufficient to provide for their ordinary self-defense.”

I like it!
It’s a nice poke in the eye to Obama-care. If an individual mandate is allowed in that law, then there can be one in this one.

Bill would require all S.D. citizens to buy a gun

The bill, which would take effect Jan. 1, 2012, would give people six months to acquire a firearm after turning 21. The provision does not apply to people who are barred from owning a firearm.

Nor does the measure specify what type of firearm. Instead, residents would pick one “suitable to their temperament, physical capacity, and preference.”

Autism NOT Caused by Vaccninations… Thursday, Jan 6 2011

I have long thought this was BS, before it was proven to be so. Apparently there are still a lot of people that believe this BS.

Confirmed: Study that linked autism to vaccinations a total fraud

by Ed Morrissey

Some may wonder why anyone still wondered about the credibility of an infamous study conducted by Andrew Wakefield and published by The Lancet that purported to show a link between vaccinations and autism.  Two years ago, the Times of London published its exposé of Wakefield’s “research,” in which Wakefield faked data and drew conclusions from a ridiculously small sample — a fact that should have warned the Lancet to refuse publication in the first place, even if Wakefield hadn’t faked the data.  However, belief in Wakefield’s claims continues, even after Reason addressed the issue in May 2010 once again as anti-vaccination advocates insisted that Wakefield’s research was valid and that the Times debunking was either incorrect or a sellout to Big Pharma.

Obamacare Lawsuit Underway in Florida Tuesday, Oct 5 2010

Time to see if the federal courts understand the Constitution. It’s quite obvious that the morons in Congress have no clue about the Constitution.
Obamacare needs to die a quick and as painful a death,to the Demoncats, as possible.

Don’t let these asshole politicians ruin America any more than already have.
Don’t let the Commerce Clause be the catch all for Congress. The decision in 1942 to regulate a private citizen’s wheat production that never left his farm, should never have happened.

Opinion: Health Care Suit Tests Basic Principles
By Carrie Severino

As arguments begin Tuesday in a Florida District Court where 20 state attorneys general and the National Federation of Independent Business are challenging the constitutionality of the health care law, the American people can be forgiven for feeling a bit ill at ease about the direction their country is going. James Madison would feel the same way.

Madison’s vision of limited government was integral to the creation of the U.S. Constitution and its ratification, and he thought the limited nature of the federal government was so clear from the text of the Constitution itself that even the Bill of Rights should have been unnecessary.

So imagine his response if the Congress of 1789 had proposed a law like the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — i.e., Obamacare. Nowhere does the Constitution grant the power to force individuals to buy a product.
