I really get pissed off when I see this shit. I see it all the time. A lot of the shows on TV have that theme in them. Some veteran loses his mind and kills innocent civilians.
The media spins the story that it’s a crazy combat veteran that has done something to society in general, even when they are wrong, and then don’t correct the story, which now makes their story a lie.
Yet, the incidents of crime committed by veterans is statistically insignificant in comparison with the general population.
Here’s a good article discussing this from War On Terror News
What to do about those “Crazed Combat Vets?”
In the first quarter of 2012, the media has publicized an Iraq Veteran killing a Park Ranger in Washington, an Orange County Deputy killing a Marine, an Army Private being stabbed to death by Meth Heads in Washington, and a Staff Sergeant that allegedly killed 16 Afghans in their sleep, along with so many other stories of Violent Veterans. The media is quick to tell us that these are Combat Veterans, but often fail to tell us when the person was tossed out of the military, like in that first case listed, or correct the story when they weren’t in Combat at all, or weren’t in the military as they had claimed.
In 2008, the NYTimes was on the same hunt, to prove that “Crazed” Combat Veterans were slaughtering American Civilians. They wrote about 121 cases in which someone died. The problem was that in many of those the Veteran was found to be innocent or to have acted in self-defense, while in others the trial had not occurred, and in many it was not murder at all. In those latter cases, it was often a car accident, that helped to boost their body count. When it was all said and done, the numbers demonstrated it was safer to be near a Combat Veteran than to be in the safest big city in America.
But “one is too many.”
One case of domestic violence, one murder, or one suicide is “too many.” Yeah, that sounds good, but short of locking every American up in solitary confinement, there is NO program that can end all violence in this Nation, any subsection of it, or in any other country.

Here’s a video that’s gone viral.
I can see why. Don’t know how many times I’ve been asked stupid shit by civilians about my combat experience, or Army life in general.
Funny stuff here.

“Act of Valor” Wins Praise From Conservative Critics, Scorn From Liberal Ones
I wish I knew who said this — maybe @dancollins. He wrote something like, “Dear Stupid Critics, please bear in mind you’re reviewing a war movie, not a war.”
Critics can’t seem to tell the difference. Is this a movie about the War on Terror? Oh, I don’t like that. So a movie about it bad.
While critics attack this movie, where actual fighting men are the heroes, what do you imagine their reaction will be to the Obama Personally Kills Bin Ladin movie coming soon? Do you suspect, as I do, that shifting the locus of Heroism away from the icky soldiers and towards the effete, professorial douchebag in the Oval Office will cause them to realize, Clint Eastwood-style, that “some men just need killin’”?

Now this is different! Hollywood actually has someone with morals in their midst. It’s a friggin’ miracle.
No Sex Please, I’m Neal McDonough…
By Nikki Finke

Neal McDonough is a marvelous actor who elevates every role he plays, whether it’s in Band of Brothers or Desperate Housewives. So when he was suddenly replaced with David James Elliott 3 days into the filming on ABC’s new series Scoundrels earlier this week, there had to be a story behind the story. The move was officially explained as a casting change. But, in fact, McDonough was sacked because of his refusal to do some heated love scenes with babelicious star (and Botox pitchwoman) Virginia Madsen. The reason? He’s a family man and a Catholic, and he’s always made it clear that he won’t do sex scenes. And ABC knew that. Because he also didn’t get into action with Nicolette Sheridan on the network’s Desperate Housewives when he played her psycho husband during Season 5.

Tom Hanks is a moron. I can’t believe this idiot even went there. He is no student of history if he thinks this shit…
By Victor Davis Hanson
Much has been written of the recent Tom Hanks remarks to Douglas Brinkley in a Time magazine interview about his upcoming HBO series on World War II in the Pacific. Here is the explosive excerpt that is making the rounds today.
“Back in World War II, we viewed the Japanese as ‘yellow, slant-eyed dogs’ that believed in different gods. They were out to kill us because our way of living was different. We, in turn, wanted to annihilate them because they were different. Does that sound familiar, by any chance, to what’s going on today?”
Hanks may not have been quoted correctly; and his remarks may have been impromptu and poorly expressed; and we should give due consideration to the tremendous support Hanks has given in the past both to veterans and to commemoration of World War II; and his new HBO series could well be a fine bookend to Band of Brothers. All that said, Hanks’ comments were sadly infantile pop philosophizing offered by, well, an ignoramus.

Stole this from Ace too:
Here’s my spin on it:
Hollywood just can’t help themselves. The morons are really trying hard to portray the military as the evil incarnation of the SS, or something. They just don’t get the fact that no one, NO ONE, wants to see their ideological bullshit utopian socialist garbage, or their shitty portrayal of the military.
Just another piece of shit film I’ll never see. Hollywood keeps adding to that list almost daily. They keep adding actors to my list of morons that I refuse to give my money to.
New Damon flick slanders America
By Kyle Smith
After all of Hollywood’s Iraq movies have flopped (even the Oscar-garlanded “The Hurt Locker” earned only $15 million at the box office), one studio thinks it has the following secret to success: The previous films didn’t insult the United States enough.
“Green Zone,” opening Friday, is a $100 million slime job that conjures up a fantastically distorted leftist version of the war and wraps it around a frantic but preposterous action picture. (Spoilers about the plot follow.)
Matt Damon plays Miller, an Army “chief” (chief warrant officer) assigned to searching for weapons of mass destruction in Baghdad in the opening days of the war in 2003.
The preposterous part comes in almost immediately: After Chief Miller comes up dry a couple of times, he decides to launch a one-man internal-affairs investigation into US intelligence-gathering.
He bypasses his chain of command, endangers good men (when one of his soldiers asks why he’s following a random Iraqi into what could well be an ambush, Miller snaps, “Put your game face on”) and forges a secret alliance against his fellow soldiers with a Baghdad CIA officer (Brendan Gleeson).
Despite being guilty of gross insubordination, lying to his superiors and concealing important evidence from them (a notebook containing the addresses of Saddam’s top officers), Miller is the hero of the film.
