Throwing a Bone… Tuesday, May 19 2009

Whoa! Is Obama doing something right? I can’t believe my eyes! I guess hell has truly frozen over. It’s a start, well, really a continuation of GWB’s policies, but hey! Better than the alternative. Gotta give him the due, if he gets one right. Now let’s see what he does with the AgJobs bill that is being worked out in the Senate. That goat screw needs to die a painful death.

Take it easy. He’s just throwing you idiots  a bone.

U.S. to Expand Immigration Checks to All Local Jails
Obama Administration’s Enforcement Push Could Lead to Sharp Increase in Deportation Cases
By Spencer S. Hsu

The Obama administration is expanding a program initiated by President George W. Bush aimed at checking the immigration status of virtually every person booked into local jails. In four years, the measure could result in a tenfold increase in illegal immigrants who have been convicted of crimes and identified for deportation, current and former U.S. officials said.

Kalifornia Screamin’ Wednesday, Feb 18 2009

California spends $6,245,000,000 annually on illegal aliens that don’t put one dime towards this support. The support comes in the form of health care, education, incarceration, and welfare. Hey! I know how California can save six billion dollars! Stop supporting illegal immigration! Hell, that alone would solve most of California’s budget problems. That and you could cut taxes for corporations and small businesses which would provide jobs. Cut some of the government bureaucracy, say 10% per annum for the next four years, and I think we’d have a winning budget. I would also cut the education boondoggle by 10% per annum as well. They are overpaid for the services that they provide. In fact, if you cut the education bureaucracy by that amount each year, you might actually get somewhere with educating children in this state. Education before administration. TM That should be the motto.

At least one county is starting on the right track:

Sacramento Cuts Free Health Care For Illegal Immigrants

Struggling with a $55 million budget deficit, a northern California county became the state’s first to eliminate free non-urgent health care for illegal immigrants and a civil rights group was quick to label the move unconstitutional.

Like many counties throughout California, Sacramento’s public clinics offer illegal aliens free medical care at an annual cost of millions of dollars. Sacramento County had five such clinics but two were closed as a result of the budget crunch and the remaining three will check for the immigration status of all patients.

The move, approved 3-2 by the Board of Supervisors, is expected to save the ailing county about $2.4 million dollars. With a population of around 1.4 million, Sacramento County is California’s prime agricultural region which for years has benefited from the cheap labor of illegal immigrants and lax enforcement of immigration laws.

Illegal Alien Tuition Goes To State High Court Tuesday, Dec 30 2008

This should be a no brainer, but then again, the idiots that sit on these courts can be liberal morons that can’t make sense of anything.

Illegal Alien Tuition Goes To State High Court

Mon, 12/29/2008 – 16:02 — Judicial Watch Blog

A state Supreme Court could establish a precedent with nationwide impact when it rules on a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of discounted college tuition for illegal immigrants.

The California Supreme Court has decided to take up the heated issue of whether granting illegal immigrants discounted in-state tuition at public colleges violates federal law. The case (Martinez v. Regents of University of California) was filed in 2005 by a group of out-of-state students and parents who correctly claimed that California’s public university and community college system charged them higher tuition and fees than undocumented immigrants.

A lower court dismissed the suit but, in September, a state appellate court ruled that the lawsuit can move forward. The out-of-state students argue that federal law requires states that provide discounted rates to illegal aliens to offer the same benefit to out-of-state students.

America’s Best Days Behind Us?

National pollster Scott Rasmussen has a new survey out which indicates that 47% of respondents feel that “America’s best days have come and gone.” In contrast, only 39% of respondents feel that “the nation’s best days are still to come.”

With results like that, it’s no wonder that special elections are being won by the Democrats and the outlook for November is not good at all. People are looking for “change,” but a closer look at Rasmussen’s results shows that “change” may not exactly be what the media portray it to be.

In addition to asking survey respondents about the general state of America, Rasmussen also asked a number of questions to get a general feel of where people stood on the issues.

The national telephone survey found that 62% of voters “would prefer fewer government services with lower taxes.” Only 29% favor “bigger government with higher taxes.” So, despite the calls from the media and liberals to come up with a government solution for everything (global warming, price controls, and on and on), the majority of American’s do not believe in this approach.

In addition, 75% of voters “think people who move to America from other countries should adopt the nation’s culture.” Only 13% of respondents think people who move to America “should maintain their home country’s culture.” Once again, the media and liberals believe one thing, and the American people believe something else. While left-leaning elitists are calling out to “celebrate diversity,” the American people are shouting, “Embrace America!”
