A New Gun Supporter in the Ranks… Wednesday, Jun 17 2009

We may soon have another gun supporter among us. Actually, among the morons in Berkley. One convert at a time…

Why Do Liberals Bleed?
By Robin of Berkeley

I’ve been thinking about learning how to fire a gun, maybe even buying one.   Now if you are a lifelong conservative, Red State dweller, and NRA member, you might be thinking, “Big yawn.  What’s next?  She’ll be telling us what she had for breakfast?”

So let me try to convey to you the enormousness, the Alice in Wonderland quality of my even posing the question, something I’ve never, ever considered in my life.    No one I know owns a gun.  I’ve never seen a gun (well on a holster of a police officer but I never wanted to get up close and personal with it).   I have given lots of good money over the years for gun control.   Learning to fire a gun seems as ludicrous as deciding to take up brain surgery.

But, I am rethinking absolutely everything.  There is not a single thing that I believed, that I held absolute and holy, that is not up for grabs.   My brain is in a tizzy 24/7 and I don’t know if up is down, or if east is west.

Gun Grabbers… Thursday, Jun 11 2009

And proof that gun laws aren’t going to stop criminals. Just look at the mutant that went on the shooting rampage in D.C.

He was a convicted felon. It was already illegal for him to possess a gun. That and the fact that murder is also against the law. But the morons in the gun grabbing arena use shit like this to push their bullshit agenda. The only reason this works is because the idiots in the media push it from the second it happens until the next news cycle turns up something new. Wall to wall coverage. Yet they don’t say shit about the illegal Mexican assholes that infest the streets of L.A., or similar cities that are shooting, stabbing, beating, robbing, raping, ad nauseam. As soon as some white dude that’s a complete idiot uses a gun on someone for whatever reason, it’s news.

Head down to Watts, or South L.A. and let’s get some news on that crap. The assholes that are committing crimes down there are likely already felons, and are already breaking the law when they possess a gun, and then they break more laws. Yeah, let’s make more stupid laws to screw over the citizens that are trying to protect themselves and their families.

If you were my neighbor and anti-gun, I would put a sign in my yard pointing to your house and telling all that you were anti-gun and that I wouldn’t use my guns to protect you. Assholes.

Museum Shooting Brings Out Worst in Gun Grabbers

I think the Washington Times headline says it all:

Gun controllers say rampage aids their cause.

It’s almost like they WANT to see deranged mutants committing these acts in order to further their fund raising efforts and agenda.

Of course they do! Here’s what they’re saying:

“It is dangerous to force more guns into places that American families expect to be gun-free and safe,” he said.

Mr. Helmke, who issued the statement within hours of the shooting, said he extended sympathies to the victims and that the bloodshed “shows that having even more guns in more places is the wrong answer to America’s gun violence problem.”

LA Times and the 14th Amendment… Wednesday, Jun 10 2009

The LA Times gets one right. Yeah, I know. It’s hard for me to believe as well…

The 14th Amendment as it relates to the 2nd Amendment.

A legal shootout over the right to own a gun

Conflicting court opinions gun may result in linking the 2nd Amendment with the 14th.

It’s tempting for supporters of gun control — including this page — to hope that the high court will rule that the 2nd Amendment doesn’t apply to the states. That would be a mistake and would give aid and comfort to conservative legal thinkers, among them Justice Clarence Thomas, who have questioned the incorporation doctrine.

We were disappointed last year when the Supreme Court ruled that the right to keep and bear arms was an individual right, giving short shrift to the first part of the amendment, which refers to “a well-regulated militia.” But we also believe the court has been right to use the doctrine of incorporation to bind states to the most important protections of the Bill of Rights. If those vital provisions are to be incorporated in the 14th Amendment, so should the right to keep and bear arms.

Simple Analogy… Tuesday, Jun 9 2009

Simple analogy for you:

“ elitists and their media boosters actually think that if guns aren’t sold in the U.S. then the drug gangs in Chicago, or Mexico for that matter, will be disarmed. Such specious, juvenile arguments ignore the simple analogy that the sale of cocaine is illegal in all 50 states and Mexico and yet those same gangs seem to possess large quantities of same.”

Yeah. Ban guns and drugs. Let’s see who has both in the end. No thanks.

Doing Nothing to Criminals
By Jeff Soyer

Thomas Sowell, one of the brighter conservative pundits, has an editorial today about how the United Nations basically accomplishes nothing. Well, we know that. Anyway, part of his latest piece addresses the sorry state of criminal control in Great Britain and I thought you might enjoy it:

A study in Britain found that, among criminals caught, convicted and sentenced, only 7 percent of these sentences involved being put behind bars. Most of what is done in the other 93 percent of the cases amounts to virtually nothing.

People convicted of burglary in Britain are seldom jailed. For this and many other crimes, they will get a stern talking to. And, if they do it again, they will get an even sterner talking to.

Knives Kill! Ban them all! Wednesday, May 20 2009

Those EVIL guns are to blame! Wait, it’s really the knives…

Great News! Fewer Gun Deaths, More Knife Deaths

Kurt Hoffman finds the liberal perspective on guns just a bit bizarre.
One puzzling characteristic of citizen disarmament advocates is their bizarre apparent belief that “gun violence” is somehow “worse” than other forms of violence. One would think that being stabbed, beaten, bludgeoned, strangled, etc. to death would be just as bad as being shot to death, but apparently that’s not a universally held belief.

Gun Control Poll… Tuesday, May 19 2009

In case you were wondering. Americans tell the pollsters what they think about gun control. There are other polls there as well.

Gun Control

By 47 percent to 34 percent, more Americans think better enforcement of existing gun laws is more likely to decrease gun violence than passage of more laws and restrictions on obtaining guns.

Those in a household where someone owns a gun are even more in favor better enforcement — 61 percent to 24 percent.

Opinion Dynamics Corp. conducted the national telephone poll of 900 registered voters for FOX News from May 12 to May 13. The poll has a 3-point error margin.

Good Shootin’ Wednesday, May 6 2009

In the news? Not bloody likely. Doesn’t fit the anti-gun narrative of the left. It fits the bill for another reason to carry though. This young man that intervened possibly saved quite a few lives and definitely stopped a douche-bag from raping some women. Good job.

College Student Shoots, Kills Home Invader

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — A group of college students said they are lucky to be alive and they’re thanking the quick-thinking of one of their own. Police said a fellow student shot and killed one of two masked me who burst into an apartment.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Jones met with one of the students to talk about the incident.

“Apparently, his intent was to rape and murder us all,” said student Charles Bailey.

Guns… Thursday, Apr 9 2009

The focus is guns. Either pro, or anti, it is the focus as of late. Since that is the case, it will be my focus for a bit as well.

Here’s an interesting stat:

Florida adopted a right-to-carry law in 1987. Between 1987 and 1996, these changes occurred:

Florida United States
homicide rate -36% -0.4%
firearm homicide rate -37% +15%
handgun homicide rate -41% +24%

Assault weapons were involved in less than 1% of homicides before the assault weapons ban took effect in 1994.

More gun legislation isn’t going to stop the 1% of morons that go on killing sprees. Ask Washington, D.C. how all that gun control has worked out for them.

Ask Chicago how their gun legislation has worked out for them as well.

Ann Coulter: Let’s All Surrender Our Weapons — You First!

The rash of recent shooting incidents has led people who wouldn’t know an AK-47 from a paintball gun to issue demands for more restrictions on guns. To be sure, it’s hard to find any factor in these shootings that could be responsible — other than the gun.

So far, this year’s public multiple shootings were committed by:

– Richard Poplawski, 23, product of a broken family, expelled from high school and dishonorably discharged from the Marines, who killed three policemen in Pittsburgh.

– Former crack addict Jiverly Wong, 41, who told co-workers “America sucks” yet somehow was not offered a job as a speechwriter for Barack Obama, who blockaded his victims in a civic center in Binghamton, N.Y., and shot as many people as he could, before killing himself.

– Robert Stewart, 45, a three-time divorcee and high school dropout with “violent tendencies” — according to one of his ex-wives — who shot up the nursing home in Carthage, N.C., where his newly estranged wife worked.

– Lovelle Mixon, 26, a paroled felon, struggling to get his life back on track by pimping, who shot four cops in Oakland, Calif. — before eventually being shot himself.

– Twenty-eight-year-old Michael McLendon, child of divorce, living with his mother and boycotting family funerals because he hated his relatives, who killed 10 of those relatives and their neighbors in Samson, Ala.

A.W.R. Hawkins: Gun Bans for Your Health

While President Obama, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, and Attorney General Eric Holder share an anti-gun ideology, they might not be the greatest threat to the Second Amendment among the current administration. Their gun control efforts could be vastly outdone by Secretary of Education Arne Duncan’s habit of equating gun bans with curing a “public health epidemic.”

Prior to becoming secretary of education, Duncan was CEO of Chicago Public Schools (CPS) from 2001 to 2008. During that time, student performance in CPS remained static or fell even further behind the national average. For example, in October 2008 the Chicago Tribune reported: “The percentage of Chicago public high school students who met or exceeded state standards on a test tied to the ACT college-entrance exam dropped for the third consecutive year.”

Today’s Reading List… Wednesday, Apr 8 2009

Dr. Paul Kengor: Reaganomics vs. Obamanomics

President Obama says the economy is the worst since the Great Depression. Actually, it is the worst since the Reagan recession of 1982-83. Further, the 2009 market crash is not the worst since 1929 but since 1987-also on Ronald Reagan’s watch.

Pete Sessions: Promises Made, Promises Broken: The Tale of the 2010 Budget

Two years ago, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made the following statement in an NBC interview with Brian Williams:

“…we’ll go forward with civility, with honesty, with integrity and with fiscal discipline. No new deficit spending, no new bridges to nowhere, heaping mountains of debt on our children.”

What a change two years makes.

Grace-Marie Turner: The Canadian System Failed Natasha Richardson

Questions are rightly being raised about whether actress Natasha Richardson could have been saved if her skiing accident had occurred in the U.S. rather than in Canada. No one ever will know if the tragedy could have been averted, but it is worth looking at the timing and medical resources available to her.

Jacob Sullum: Where’s the Fire?

The first time Tom Kiklas saw an electronic cigarette, he recalls, “I couldn’t stand it … I thought, ‘I don’t want to be involved in this.’ I’m an anti-smoking kind of guy.”

Porter Stansberry: The Greatest Economic Disaster in Recorded History

It’s going to be a real disaster…

The current administration’s economic strategy will create an unmitigated disaster – not only our country’s worst financial calamity, but the greatest economic disaster in recorded history.

John Stossel The Universal Pre-K Scam

Did you go to preschool? When I was growing up, few kids did. But now there is a new movement that says every child in America should have a chance to start school before kindergarten — at taxpayer expense.

I personally think that Obama’s bitch is an ugly ho, but that’s just my opinion. The media thinks that she was elected right along with the asshole in chief. Wake up idiots. She’s NOT important.

Brent Bozell: A Fawning Frenzy For Michelle

Imagine being Laura Bush and turning on the television and watching the absolute deluge of sticky-sweet syrup being poured all over Michelle Obama during her European debut as first lady. It is as if every TV reporter was handed a pamphlet of talking points and ordered to compare Mrs. Obama to Jackie Kennedy. NBC’s Dawna Friesen gushed: “Though Harvard-educated Michelle Obama has substance, not just style, and that’s what sets her apart.”

Bobby Eberle: I’m from America, and I DON’T Apologize

This past week, we witnessed Barack Obama during his “I’m sorry for being an American” tour. During remarks in France and Turkey, Obama showed little knowledge of facts and history as he tried to make Europe “like” him by apologizing for America being America… for taking the lead when no other countries will.

Thomas Sowell: Mind-changing Books

From time to time, readers ask me what books have made the biggest difference in my life. I am not sure how to answer that question because the books that happened to set me off in a particular direction at a particular time may have no profound or valuable message for others– and can even be books I no longer believe in today.

Michelle Malkin: Transparency Killer at HUD: Another Disastrous Obama Nominee

If you need a shining example of the utter disingenuousness of Barack Obama’s commitment to government transparency, I have two words for you: Ron Sims. This lifelong political hack is to transparency what sunlight is to Dracula, what salt is to a slug, what kryptonite is to Superman, what “The View” is to intelligent debate.

Ben Shapiro: The Second French Revolution

Every old ideological conflict eventually becomes new again. So it is with today’s battle between the forces of socialism, called “fairness” by its advocates, and the forces of capitalism, labeled “liberty” by its supporters. What we are witnessing is an ancient struggle between those who believe in the rights of the individual and those who believe in a sort of “general will.” Those of conservative bent ardently hope for a second American Revolution; those of the left wish desperately for a second French Revolution.

New Gallup Poll: No New Gun Control!

While the poll was taken just before the shooting at the NY immigration center, it did follow a small number of other high profile shootings, so I think the results speak for themselves. From Gallup.com:

In Gallup polling conducted prior to last week’s gun massacre at an immigrant center in Binghamton, N.Y., only 29% of Americans said the possession of handguns by private citizens should be banned in the United States. While similar to the 30% recorded in 2007, the latest reading is the smallest percentage favoring a handgun ban since Gallup first polled on this nearly 50 years ago.

Michelle Malkin: Who’s using the military as a “global propaganda machine” now, AP?

The Associated Press has really outdone itself. Just look at this headline:

Analysis: Obama achieves defining TV shot in Iraq

It’s a drool-drenched piece on Obama’s masterful “achievement” – manipulating a politically expedient photo op with the troops in Baghdad. The AP “analysis” – or rather, adjunct public relations release – praises Obama for creating an image that will help him politically:

“A Jaw Dropping Spectacle”

Is how Camille Paglia, in Salon, describes Obama’s bow to the “Custodian of the two Holy Mosques.”

Obama bows.

Paglia urges Obama to get himself a Chief of Protocol and learn some manners. And, in impressive defiance of the MSM coverage embargo, she actually comments on Obama’s stonewalling on his birth certificate and education records.

David Hardy: Thoughts on “active shooters”

The manager of South East Area Law Enforcement has some thoughts, of which the most relevant are:

“Where times have been reliably documented, the average post-Columbine “rapid mass murder episode” lasts just 8 minutes, according to Borsch’s calculations. “The murderer’s timeline begins when he says it begins. Any prevention, deterrence or delay efforts have failed at that point, and the police are handicapped with catching up whenever they are notified.”

Brady Bunch Agenda… Wednesday, Apr 8 2009

The Brady bunch consistently lies about statistics and generally uses high profile murders to push their agenda. Problem is, they lie and Americans are fed their propaganda through the media, who is on their side, so forget about any balance on this issue. It will always slant their way, but time and again they are proven wrong, and it is up to individuals, bloggers, and honest news agencies, to report the truth. Don’t let them steal your liberty.

Words of wisdom and LOGIC!

Some great folks have came from Texas, and I know a few them personally.

Ted Nugent, the ROCK STAR, has an activist streak in him that is unrivaled, He has stated the obvious to many, and has been ridiculed by those “over educated, sensitive faux intellectual types” His latest writing sums it up nicely!

DON’T TED ON ME

Border security and gun control? No problem here. Got both. In fact, I have virtually perfected both culture war issues at Ground Nuge to the point of untouchable. You see, even though I am just a guitarplayer, these are the tip-o-the-spear culture war lies I have railed against for more than forty years. I control my borders and I control my guns. Wild huh.

Take for example the fact that the Nugent property has never been invaded, for we, like all life loving, law abiding Americans we know, have sent out a loud and clear message that even mentally deficient felon wannabes understand without pushing 1 for English-Invade my home and I will kill you. Case closed. No invasions and no one killed. Perfect.

…….
• 98% of active killers act alone.

  • 80% have long guns, 75% have multiple weapons (about 3 per incident), and they sometimes bring hundreds of extra rounds of ammunition to the shooting site.
  • Despite such heavy armaments and an obsession with murder at close range, they have an average hit rate of less than 50%.
  • They strike “stunned, defenseless innocents via surprise ambush. On a level playing field, the typical active killer would be a no-contest against anyone reasonably capable of defending themselves.”
