Free speech blogburst: Show solidarity for targeted conservative bloggers

Over the past eight years that I’ve been blogging and operating Internet media companies, I’ve witnessed or experienced firsthand some of the most unhinged behavior against conservatives — from individual harassment and intimidation, to e-mail bombs and e-mail hackings, to troll infestations, distributed denial of service attacks, coordinated spam block attacks, and death threats.

Over the past twenty years that I’ve worked in daily opinion journalism, written books, and traveled across the country speaking in every type of venue, I’ve always believed that the most effective response to attempted censorship of conservatives is more speech, not less.

More. Louder. Bolder.

Nancy Pelosi wants to amend the First Amendment. She thinks corporations have too much speech and she wants to limit it.

When Pelosi says “special interests,” she means the interests of those opposed to establishment Democrats. Clear Channel is a corporation. So is Fox News. There are thousands of websites, newspapers, think tanks and political action committees that Pelosi and the Democrats consider corporations.

Marine base can’t censor criticism of Muhammad

A federal judge has permanently banned officials at Camp LeJeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina from censoring bumper stickers and window decals critical of Islam and its prophet, Muhammad.

The ruling came in the case of a civilian employee who had served 25 years in the Marines including two combat tours in Vietnam before he retired.

Jesse Nieto lost his youngest son, Marc, in the Oct. 12, 2000, attack on the USS Cole by Islamic terrorists and subsequently carried bumper stickers and decals critical of the violence of Islam, including “We died, they rejoiced,” “Islam = Terrorism” and a picture of Calvin, of Calvin and Hobbes cartoon fame, urinating on a cartoon illustration of Muhammad.

The camp base ordered the criticisms of Islam censored, and when Nieto refused, brought court action against him.

Yesterday’s ruling from Senior U.S. District Judge Malcom J. Howard reversed the order.

In a crushing blow to academic freedom, Harvard University has censored and fired a prominent professor because university administrators didn’t like what he said about Islam.  The tenured professors at Harvard, who cannot be fired in order to protect their freedom to express themselves, have failed to rally to the cause of the fired professor — and worse, the expulsion was occasioned in part by a faculty vote:

At a meeting of Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, faculty members voted with an “overwhelming majority” to remove two economics courses - ‘Quantitative Methods in Economics and Business’ and ‘Economic Development in India and East Asia’ – that Mr Swamy teaches at the three-month Harvard Summer School session.

Harvard has  dropped economics courses taught by a Hindu professor, Subramanian Swamy, president of the Janata Party of India and a former Union Cabinet minister, because of something that had nothing to do with economics: he wrote an editorial that Muslims find offensive.  And now the Harvard Crimson has added insult to injury by applauding this decision and declaring a barbarian’s war on the founding principle of this great nation — our unalienable individual rights.

The analogy of the frog in a pot comes to mind. Just keep turning up the heat a little at a time until the water is boiling, then it’s too late for the frog.

It’s time to wake up frogs.

DHS is overstepping its bounds. This administration and their lackeys continue to violate the Constitution at every opportunity.

Obama must be defeated in the next election, or this country’s freedoms will be surely lost.

“Mayor: Freedom of speech is over,” a story filed this morning by Bob Unruh on WorldNetDaily reports.A citizen attempting to address the El Paso City Council was given only 70 seconds to speak by Mayor John Cook when he abruptly cut her off, declaring: “Thank you, your time is over. If you can’t remove yourself from the podium, I’ll have you removed. Yeah. You can take your freedom of speech outside.”This is spite of the fact that the First Amendment specifically articulates a right “to petition the government for a redress of grievances,” and all public officials, per Article. VI. of the Constitution specifically requires “all executive and judicial Officers…of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution…”

This is America, not Mexico. The fifth of May is just an excuse to drink morons. Everyone beat the French! Morons.

The shit heads that whined about this being a Mexican holiday; go back to that hell hole called Mexico if it’s that important to you. Otherwise shut the hell up.

Students Kicked Off Campus for Wearing American Flag Tees

On any other day at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Daniel Galli and his four friends would not even be noticed for wearing T-shirts with the American flag. But Cinco de Mayo is not any typical day especially on a campus with a large Mexican American student population.

Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal’s office.

“They said we could wear it on any other day,” Daniel Galli said, “but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it’s supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today.”

The boys said the administrators called their T-shirts “incendiary” that would lead to fights on campus.

Liberal reformers, who might once have wished to extend the realm of liberty, now wish to restrict it in the name of compulsory political virtue.

There was a perfect recent illustration of this in Britain. An evangelical Christian couple, the Wilkinsons, ran a bed-and-breakfast business in a place called Cookham. They refused a middle-aged homosexual couple, Michael Black and John Morgan, accommodation because they believed that homosexuality was wrong; it is condemned in the Bible.

The spurned couple said that they felt like lepers; moreover, they felt that their legal rights, enshrined in the Equality Act of 2006, which makes it illegal to discriminate in the provision of services on the grounds of “sexual orientation,” had been infringed, and they complained to the police. As yet, no prosecution has followed. But shortly afterward a senior politician, Christopher Grayling, who might be a minister in the next government if David Cameron wins the forthcoming election, said that he thought that the owners of bed-and-breakfasts ought to be allowed to refuse homosexual couples if they so wished.
