Wikipedia to Join SOPA Blackout Tomorrow… Tuesday, Jan 17 2012

This should send a clear message. Will the knuckleheads in D.C. get it? That’s the real question here. I suppose if 1/5 of the people affected by this piss and moan to Congress, maybe, just maybe they’ll get the message.

Wikipedia to join SOPA blackout tomorrow

In protest of the Stop Online Piracy Act, Wikipedia will go dark tomorrow. From 5 a.m. GMT tomorrow to 5 a.m. GMT Thursday, the English version of the website will be inaccessible to anyone around the globe. Instead, an explanatory letter will greet visitors and urge Wikipedia fans to contact Congress to express disapproval of the anti-piracy act. Wikipedia is the sixth-most visited site in the world, and it’s estimated 100 million English-speaking users will be affected.

Wikipedia’s participation is a definite boost to the Reddit-led anti-SOPA blackout, which, up to this point, had secured only the participation of lesser-known sites. Still, the decision by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales to actively join the strike didn’t inspire other Internet bigwigs to follow. In fact, it just led to jeering. Twitter chief Dick Costolo, for example, tweeted, “That’s just silly. Closing a global business in reaction to single-issue national politics is foolish.”

Is California High-Speed Rail Dead? Tuesday, Jan 17 2012

I sure as hell hope so.

More on that high speed rail to hell in a hand basket. I hope that this gets killed. This state can ill afford another debt like this.

The lying assholes behind this have been found out and the public isn’t going to put up with it.

“Nobody spends somebody else’s money as carefully as he spends his own. Nobody uses somebody else’s resources as carefully as he uses his own. So if you want efficiency and effectiveness, if you want knowledge to be properly utilized, you have to do it through the means of private property.” – Milton Friedman

Is California High-Speed Rail Dead?

Posted by Randal O’Toole

The CEO and board chair of the California High Speed Rail Authority have resigned in disgrace over erroneous cost projections. A peer-review commission created by the California legislature says the authority’s high-speed rail plan is “not financially feasible.” Surveys show a majority of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans in the state all oppose construction.

Yet the authority’s scheme to build a new rail line capable of moving trains from Los Angeles to San Francisco in two hours and 40 minutes won’t die unless the state legislature kills it. Officially, the authority plans to begin construction by September 2012, despite the fact that it has less than 10 percent of the money it needs to complete the project.

The tide definitely turned against the plan when the authority published a new business plan admitting that estimated inflation-adjusted construction costs had more than doubled from $43 billion to $98.5 billion. Moreover, under the new plan the promised 220-mph trains would not roll until 2033, more than a decade later than voters were promised in 2008.

The authority’s credibility was further reduced when it admitted that the million jobs it promised were really job-years, and that no more than 60,000 jobs would be created at any given time (and even that was probably an exaggeration). These revelations cost the project the editorial support of a number of major papers that had previously endorsed the project.

A Little Balance… Tuesday, Jan 17 2012

If you will, to my previous post on MO.

This is what America needs, more women that see the truth behind the liberal lies…

Michelle Obama Sucks Even More… Tuesday, Jan 17 2012

This woman is quite the piece of work. I’ve never liked her. It’s no secret. I think she’s a racist POS and whenever she opens her mouth, I cringe. In my opinion, race relations in this country has been set back on its ass thanks to her and her racist husband and the morons on the left (MSM) that continue to push that shit.

Michelle Obama and Stokely Carmichael on Collective White Guilt

Jodi Kantor launched a pre-election, pre-emptive biography about the first couple last week. The New York Times reporter has been covering the human interest side of the Obama family since 2007. Kantor’s earlier articles focused on the president’s love of basketball, Michelle’s family tree, and Barack’s “search for faith.” Now she’s written The Obamas, a sleight-of-hand book that has Michelle getting all of the attention while her husband makes unconstitutional recess appointments. In response to Kantor’s come-on, the first lady did her part, hitting the airwaves to counteract a few behind-the-scene tidbits.Michelle told CBS’ Gayle King that there will always be people who don’t like her and that ever since her husband announced his candidacy in 2007, some see her as an “angry black woman.” Cue the mainstream media. The lapdog press couldn’t get the “angry black woman” story out to the masses fast enough. Once again, the race card proved an effective distraction from the latest surveillance techniques coming out of Big Sis’s Department of Homeland Security. But luckily for anybody still interested, Michelle’s “righteous indignation” created an opening to ask if Juan Williams was right back in 2009. The Fox contributor caught flak for saying that “Michelle Obama has this Stokely Carmichael-in-a-designer dress thing going on.” Whether true or not, the symbolism of a woman at war with herself and society was dead-on.
