Have American’s have finally had enough, or just a flash in the pants?
I know I hate the bastards. The assholes that work for government make more money than someone in the private sector. That doesn’t make any sense, government doesn’t produce a damn thing.
Hating the government finally goes mainstream

Three years ago, the Republican establishment piled scorn on the presidential candidacy of Ron Paul.
Today, he is in a statistical tie with President Obama in 2012 polling. His son, an ophthalmologist who has never run for elective office, is well ahead of not only the GOP’s handpicked candidate for Senate in Kentucky but also both Democratic contenders — all statewide officeholders.
What happened? Did America sudden develop an insatiable appetite for 74-year-old, cranky congressmen from Texas? Is the gold standard catching on?

What, it was a great headline!
Gloria Estefan and her husband just pissed all over the Cuban community in Florida.
Estefans’ new collaboration hits sour note
By JACKIE BUENO SOUSA
If Gloria Estefan decides to sing a tune while hosting President Barack Obama at her home Thursday, she may want to consider her 1989 hit Cuts Both Ways.
‘Cause you and I are dangerous
We want too much and life ain’t that way
Don’t ask for more
Don’t be a fool
Haven’t we already broken every rule
The Estefans may have broken more than a rule when they decided to host a cocktail reception for the president during his visit to South Florida on Thursday. Estefan, along with husband Emilio, also broke a bond that had united them with Miami’s Cuban community, whose members largely oppose the president’s agenda.
The Estefans, for their part, have implied that they’re simply using the opportunity to increase awareness about the Cuban people’s plight. What’s more, they note that they believe in supporting good candidates regardless of party.
They would have a convincing argument except for one very important detail: The event isn’t merely a conversation about Cuba with the president while sipping a cortadito. Nor is it designed to raise funds for a particular cause or candidate they support.

Jobless claims “unexpectedly” rise again:
Rising jobless claims add worries about recovery
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The number of U.S. workers filing new claims for jobless aid soared last week as the backlog from the Easter holiday was processed, adding to worries about the recovery, while U.S. industrial output rose less than expected in March.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 24,000 — the largest increase in two months — to a seasonally adjusted 484,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday. Markets had expected a dip to 440,000.
“Everything on the manufacturing side is clearly pointing to an acceleration,” said Phil Orlando, chief equity market strategist at Federated Investors in New York.

Arizona Clears Strict Immigration Bill
By MIRIAM JORDAN
Arizona lawmakers on Tuesday passed one of the toughest pieces of immigration-enforcement legislation in the country, which would make it a violation of state law to be in the U.S. without proper documentation.
It would also grant police the power to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being illegal.
The bill could still face a veto from Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer. A spokesman for Ms. Brewer said she has not publicly commented on the bill. Ms. Brewer, a Republican, has argued for stringent immigration laws.
Under the measure, passed Tuesday by Arizona’s lower house, after being passed earlier by the state Senate, foreign nationals are required to carry proof of legal residency.

Military asserts right to return cyber attacks
By LOLITA C. BALDOR
WASHINGTON (AP) – The U.S. must fire back against cyber attacks swiftly and strongly and should act to counter or disable a threat even when the identity of the attacker is unknown, the director of the National Security Agency told Congress.
Lt. Gen. Keith Alexander, who is the Obama administration’s nominee to take on additional duties as head of the new Cyber Command, also said the U.S. should not be deterred from taking action against countries such as Iran and North Korea just because they might launch cyber attacks.
“Even with the clear understanding that we could experience damage to our infrastructure, we must be prepared to fight through in the worst case scenario,” Alexander said in a Senate document obtained by The Associated Press.
Alexander’s answers reflect the murky nature of the Internet and the escalating threat of cyber terrorism, which defies borders, operates at the speed of light and can provide deep cover for assailants who can launch disruptive attacks from continents away, using networks of innocent computers.

Here’s a little history from NASA. The shuttle landed at Edwards Air Force Base two days later.
Cool stuff.
Some trivia; the shuttle booster is painted white here. They stopped doing that to lower the weight.

The Boldest Test Flight in History
Early on the morning of April 12, 1981, two astronauts sat strapped into their seats on the flight deck of Columbia, a radically new spacecraft known as the space shuttle.

John Young, the commander, had already flown in space four times, including a walk on the moon in 1972. Bob Crippen, the pilot, was a Navy test pilot who would go on to command three future shuttle missions. But nothing either man had done or would do was quite like this.

Obama Spokesman: Obama Thinks We Are Still Working On Our Democracy But Don’t Worry, He’s Making Historic Steps In That Direction
It’s pretty clear that at best, Obama thinks the United States is just another country on the UN roll call, right between United Republic of Tanzania and Uruguay. At worst, he thinks the United States has done far more evil than good in the world.
While talking to the President of Kazakhstan (a country which the State Department says is a human rights violator), Obama seems to indicate there are some similarities between the countries.
NSC senior director Mike McFaul said on a conference call with reporters Sunday. “Both presidents agreed that you don’t ever reach democracy; you always have to work at it. And in particular, President Obama reminded his Kazakh counterpart that we, too, are working to improve our democracy.”
The Wall Street Journal’s Jonathan Weisman asked McFaul to clarify.
“You seemed to be suggesting there was some equivalence between their issues of democracy and the United States’ issues, when you said that President Obama assured him that we, too, are working on our democracy,” Weisman said. “Is there equivalence between the problems that President Nazarbayev is confronting and the state of democracy in the United States?”
“Absolutely not … There was no equivalence meant whatsoever,” McFaul said. “[Obama's] taken, I think, rather historic steps to improve our own democracy since coming to office here in the United States.”
