An excellent essay on Judaism and Christianity as they relate to Islam and violence.
Too often there are Muslim apologists that insist on equating the Christian Crusades as being the pillar of Christianity and “proof” that Christianity is as violent as Islam, if not more. Along with many Bible references of an historical nature, also taken out of context by the apologists and applied incorrectly to Judaism and Christianity.
No matter how much the Islam apologists try to do it, the Crusades were anything but an example of spreading Christianity by the sword. The Crusades were defensive responses to Islamic encroachment on Christian lands. It doesn’t take a historian to figure that out. It does take a moron a huge leap in conjecture and innuendo to make the case that the Crusades are similar or worse than the spread of Islam by the sword.
Read this for a really well done essay on the topic.
Raymond Ibrahim: Are Judaism and Christianity as Violent as Islam?
by Raymond Ibrahim
My essay from the Middle East Quarterly (Summer 2009 vol.16 num.3, p. 3-12):
“There is far more violence in the Bible than in the Qur’an; the idea that Islam imposed itself by the sword is a Western fiction, fabricated during the time of the Crusades when, in fact, it was Western Christians who were fighting brutal holy wars against Islam.”[1] So announces former nun and self-professed “freelance monotheist,” Karen Armstrong. This quote sums up the single most influential argument currently serving to deflect the accusation that Islam is inherently violent and intolerant: All monotheistic religions, proponents of such an argument say, and not just Islam, have their fair share of violent and intolerant scriptures, as well as bloody histories. Thus, whenever Islam’s sacred scriptures—the Qur’an first, followed by the reports on the words and deeds of Muhammad (the Hadith)—are highlighted as demonstrative of the religion’s innate bellicosity, the immediate rejoinder is that other scriptures, specifically those of Judeo-Christianity, are as riddled with violent passages.

Who are these morons that keep calling for more and bigger government in our lives? If that’s what you want, move to fucking China. Leave America to the sane people.
Less government, more freedom, more capitalism. That’s what has made America great. Not the opposite.
Please allow the good doctor to explain:
Americans Love Government
by Walter E. Williams
Philosopher Bertrand Russell suggested that “Men are born ignorant, not stupid. They are made stupid by education.” And, it was Albert Einstein who explained, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” So which is it — stupidity, ignorance or insanity — that explains the behavior of my fellow Americans who call for greater government involvement in our lives?
According to latest Rasmussen Reports, 30 percent of Americans believe congressmen are corrupt. Last year, Congress’ approval rating fell to 9 percent, its lowest in history. If the average American were asked his opinion of congressmen, among the more polite terms you’ll hear are thieves and crooks, liars and manipulators, hustlers and quacks. But what do the same people say when our nation faces a major problem? “Government ought to do something!” When people call for government to do something, it is as if they’ve been befallen by amnesia and forgotten just who is running government. It’s the very people whom they have labeled as thieves and crooks, liars and manipulators, hustlers and quacks.

Health care in America is about to change, thanks to Obama and the Democrats. They fail to see the failure of nationalized health care in countries that have been doing so for some time. We don’t have to look far to see how it has failed. Just look north. Canada’s system of health care, where there is only one payer of benefits, the government, has proven time and again that it is a failure.
Britain, Sweden and others are turning away from the government monopolized health care and incorporating private health care into their systems. Why if they can’t make it work, are we even considering it, in the first place?
Free health care will be very expensive, both in monetary costs, as well as the cost in lives lost due to the bureaucrats and the rationing that is sure to follow any implementation of a nationalized health care system.
Canada’s ObamaCare Precedent
Governments always ration care by making you wait. That
By DAVID GRATZER
Congressional Democrats will soon put forward their legislative proposals for reforming health care. Should they succeed, tens of millions of Americans will potentially be joining a new public insurance program and the federal government will increasingly be involved in treatment decisions.
Not long ago, I would have applauded this type of government expansion. Born and raised in Canada, I once believed that government health care is compassionate and equitable. It is neither.
My views changed in medical school. Yes, everyone in Canada is covered by a “single payer” — the government. But Canadians wait for practically any procedure or diagnostic test or specialist consultation in the public system.

Boycott GM and Chrysler. I think I will. I was already boycotting Chrysler, just because they suck. I was a GM fan until Obama took over the company. The second that happened, I became a Ford fan, as I previously stated. And without further ado: buy FORD!
And another reason I refuse to support Government Motors; MSLGBTV supports them now as their cause du jour.
The Ethical Case for Boycotting Chrysler and GM
By Gary Jason
In business ethics, the typical way one makes a judgment about the morality of a business action or practice is to consider the facts surrounding it in the light of four major ethical perspectives. These four ethical theories have been the ones considered most plausible in over two millennia of moral philosophy.
The first perspective is the natural rights view, or what I will call the (A) rights perspective. This view judges an action or practice by asking whether it flows from the rights of those doing it, and more importantly, if it violates the rights of others.

GM: The MSNBC-Endorsed Car Maker
by Hugh Hewitt
GM has launched a new ad campaign to try and rebrand the company. No need. MSNBC has ridden to the rescue and is proud to declare Government Motors its new favorite cause. The hard-left cable network had adopted GM, so let the word go forth that if you want to support President Obama, his cheering section at MSNBC has made it clear that means buying GM product.
MSNBC’s hapless Ed Schultz accused me of “hating” President Obama on his Tuesday’s show because I have announced that I will not buy a GM or a Chrysler car. (Since 2001 I have purchased two GMs –a Saab and a Trailblazer.) My reasoning is explained in this

The LA Times gets one right. Yeah, I know. It’s hard for me to believe as well…
The 14th Amendment as it relates to the 2nd Amendment.
A legal shootout over the right to own a gun
Conflicting court opinions gun may result in linking the 2nd Amendment with the 14th.
It’s tempting for supporters of gun control — including this page — to hope that the high court will rule that the 2nd Amendment doesn’t apply to the states. That would be a mistake and would give aid and comfort to conservative legal thinkers, among them Justice Clarence Thomas, who have questioned the incorporation doctrine.
We were disappointed last year when the Supreme Court ruled that the right to keep and bear arms was an individual right, giving short shrift to the first part of the amendment, which refers to “a well-regulated militia.” But we also believe the court has been right to use the doctrine of incorporation to bind states to the most important protections of the Bill of Rights. If those vital provisions are to be incorporated in the 14th Amendment, so should the right to keep and bear arms.

“I Did Not Vote to Lower My Standard of Living”
Michael Jones of PoliGazette voted twice for Barack Obama last year—in the primaries and in the general election—but he is one of a rapidly growing number of disillusioned moderates that is coming to regret his decision.
Here is a taste of his discontent:
Like many Americans last November, I voted for change. I had hope. I no longer have hope since the president I voted for never mentioned a fraction of the agenda he now espouses. I did not vote to lower my standard of living, humble as it may be. Nor did I ask to jump into the economic abyss in order to “save” the planet.
Every time I hear another Obama supporter-turned-opponent claim that they had no idea what Obama was going to do as President, I have to shake my head in amusement.

He won by lying. You lose by believing. This is a typical ploy of the Democrats. Claim that it is the top 1% of wage earners that they are going after and then stick it to the rest of us after they figure it’s been long enough, and raise taxes across the board.
That is all.
The 1% Myth and the Victimization of America
By Andrew Foy and Brenton Stransky
A common liberal argument aimed at America’s free market economy and reinforced in President Obama’s budget proposal A New Era of Responsibility is that, over the last 25 years, the rich have gotten richer while the poor have gotten poorer. While this assertion should be of concern to anyone interested in domestic and economic policy, a critical examination of the data reveals the claim to be almost certainly spurious and uncovers an even more interesting question — what is the motivation for the current administration to propagate such a claim?
The following chart, produced by Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Saez, and displayed in the President’s budget proposal, demonstrates that over the last 25 years, the share of income going to the top 1% has consistently increased and therefore, one must conclude the share going to everybody else has gotten smaller.

Simple analogy for you:
“ elitists and their media boosters actually think that if guns aren’t sold in the U.S. then the drug gangs in Chicago, or Mexico for that matter, will be disarmed. Such specious, juvenile arguments ignore the simple analogy that the sale of cocaine is illegal in all 50 states and Mexico and yet those same gangs seem to possess large quantities of same.”
Yeah. Ban guns and drugs. Let’s see who has both in the end. No thanks.
Doing Nothing to Criminals
By Jeff Soyer
Thomas Sowell, one of the brighter conservative pundits, has an editorial today about how the United Nations basically accomplishes nothing. Well, we know that. Anyway, part of his latest piece addresses the sorry state of criminal control in Great Britain and I thought you might enjoy it:
A study in Britain found that, among criminals caught, convicted and sentenced, only 7 percent of these sentences involved being put behind bars. Most of what is done in the other 93 percent of the cases amounts to virtually nothing.
People convicted of burglary in Britain are seldom jailed. For this and many other crimes, they will get a stern talking to. And, if they do it again, they will get an even sterner talking to.

Despite Dick Cheney’s switch to the dark side of gay marriage, the GOP needs to stand strong on that issue. The majority of America supports marriage between a man and a woman, including this jacked up state. Our vote proved that. And before you say it, I am not homophobic. My step brother is a homo and I find him interesting, disturbed, but interesting and treat him with respect. I call him “bro” just like I do my real brother. He doesn’t try to push his sexual proclivities at me, or my family, which works for me. What he does with his life is his choice, as is what I do, but I am not trying to force you to change. The homo mafia is trying to force America to change to something that it doesn’t want.
Marriage defined in any other way results in a huge problem in the society that adopts the practice. Look at Europe. It is dying a slow and ugly death. The birth rate is too low to repopulate their countries, so they import Muslims at their own peril. I know that’s a side track, but it is a fact.
Supporting the nuclear family of a father and mother raising their children is the very foundation of society. Whether you believe in the Bible, or not, it is a fact that marriage and reproduction is the key to human survival. It is also the key to keeping society on path that is moral and not deviant by nature. Like it or not, homosexuality is deviant behavior. It is in no way normal. Letting the homo mafia dictate their agenda to the rest of America and sitting by idly, is a recipe for disaster. Stand up to them and let them know that it is deviant behavior and that our children are more important than their wants.
Restoring America’s Marriages
by Harry R. Jackson, Jr.
Last week marked a nadir in the battle for biblical marriage. Two huge events occurred. First, former VP Dick Cheney voiced his support for same-sex marriage. Second, New Hampshire became the sixth state in the Union to legalize gay marriage. Despite these two events, nationalizing same-sex marriage is absolutely not inevitable. Gay marriage proponents are only too aware that the recent California Supreme Court ruling that the 2008 Proposition 8 victory will stand guarantees that a fresh round of marriage amendments, initiatives, and referendums will undoubtedly be levied in the states that have scored temporary victories for same-sex marriage.
