Obama is a zero. Didn’t take too long at all for many to figure that one out…

Obama Approval Index = ZERO

Rasmussen Reports conducts a daily survey on Obama’s job performance and uses the data to create an index. That index, seen below, is positive if more people strongly APPROVE of Obama than people who strongly DISAPPROVE of him.

As Club member Bill Eilberg pointed out to me today, the Index is at ZERO for the first time since Obama took office. A sign of things to come?

Empathy and Justice… Monday, Jun 8 2009

Empathy and justice don’t mix. There is no room for empathy when it comes to the law. If judges used empathy in their rulings, then it would be their whims and not law that would prevail.

“the liberty of considering all cases in an equitable light must not be indulged too far; lest thereby we destroy all law” – William Blackstone

Empathy and Justice

Lloyd Brown

In his letter explaining why he voted against the confirmation of John Roberts as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Barack Obama gave us a fascinating glimpse into the wonderful world of liberal logic.

The reasoning boiled down to this: Roberts was a highly qualified judge. But in some cases, he sided with the “strong” instead of the “weak.”

“The bottom line is this: I will be voting against John Roberts’ nomination . . .,” Obama, then a senator from Illinois, wrote.

Stop the Welfare State… Monday, Jun 8 2009

Cut welfare? That’s on the table in Kaleefornia. There needs to be a huge cut in every government sector within the state. I say 10% across the board for the next 4 years with no increase in any spending whatsoever.

Of course, all the sob stories that would accompany this are already being thrown about…

California contemplates ultimate reform – no welfare

Could California become the first state in the nation to do away with welfare?

That doomsday scenario is on the table as lawmakers wrestle with a staggering $24.3 billion budget deficit.

County welfare directors are “in shock” at the very idea of getting rid of CalWORKs, which has been widely viewed as one of the most successful social programs in the state’s history, said Bruce Wagstaff, director of the Department of Human Assistance in Sacramento.

This may be the way to go. I like the idea of a flat tax that is the same for everyone. Make the tax system fair. The rich will still pay a lot in taxes. They have more money to spend and will always spend it.

Schwarzenegger suggests state consider flat tax

Could the flat tax come to California?

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said today that he would like to see such “radical” proposals come out of a commission now studying an overhaul of the state’s tax system. The governor told the editorial board of the Sacramento Bee that he hoped the commission would not be afraid to propose something like “a 15%  straight tax.”

Global Warming Sham… Monday, Jun 8 2009

On the global warming sham, we have these lovely articles for your perusal.

Have it your way: Burger King franchise cites cockroaches and Oz in defense of ‘global warming is baloney’ signs

Earlier this week we were, ahem, relishing the story about how some Burger King restaurants in Tennessee had been displaying signs saying “global warming is baloney“.

A journalist working for the Memphis Flyer, a local news weekly, had photographed some of the signs and then approached Burger King’s press office for an explanation. It responded by saying the sign’s message didn’t match the corporation’s views on global warming and it said it had asked the franchise owner to take the signs down. End of story.

Think twice about ‘green’ transport, say scientists

You worry a lot about the environment and do everything you can to reduce your carbon footprint — the emissions of greenhouse gases that drive dangerous climate change.

So you always prefer to take the train or the bus rather than a plane, and avoid using a car whenever you can, faithful to the belief that this inflicts less harm to the planet.

Well, there could be a nasty surprise in store for you, for taking public transport may not be as green as you automatically think, says a new US study.

Its authors point out an array of factors that are often unknown to the public.

These are hidden or displaced emissions that ramp up the simple “tailpipe” tally, which is based on how much carbon is spewed out by the fossil fuels used to make a trip.

Environmental engineers Mikhail Chester and Arpad Horvath at the University of California at Davis say that when these costs are included, a more complex and challenging picture emerges.

Liberal Sexist Pigs… Monday, Jun 8 2009

The left and their misogynist views of women. It’s disgusting, but not unexpected. Cretans tend to display their stupidity at every possible moment. The way the left treats women that are conservative is a prime example.

Liberal Sexist Pigs
by Ashley Herzog

Brace yourselves, readers, because it’s not over yet. This year has been Misogyny Mania for liberals who claim to be “pro-woman.”

First there was the character assassination of Miss California Carrie Prejean, in which liberals thought a deft response to her anti-gay marriage comments was to call her a slut. By saying that marriage should be between a man and a woman, Prejean did nothing more than restate the official position of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, John Kerry, Bill Clinton—and every other male politician liberals adore. There’s no doubt that Prejean’s femininity determined how the media treated her. As Miss USA owner Donald Trump said, “If her beauty wasn’t so great, nobody really would have cared.”

Back at it… Monday, Jun 8 2009

Well, back to work.

I am recovering from my knee surgery, which has gone quite well. Thanks be to God. I am recovering quickly and I think that my knee will no longer give me the troubles it did.

I also took the week off from blogging. I needed the break from the news and the constant BS that comes along with following that. Who needs that stress after surgery. I watched maybe an hour of news during the week just to see if America was still there. Other than that, nada.

Looks like Geert Wilders is back in the news. Must be pissing off the Euro-weenies. A case of classic liberal moronic reasoning. Geert tells it like it is. Too bad the political correctness of the Euro-weenies is so ingrained.

Wilders Causes Another Row. Pre-Captivity Stockholm Syndrome
By Thomas Landen

In November 2008 a Dutch journalist, Joanie de Rijke, was abducted by Taliban fighters in Afghanistan. She was held captive, raped repeatedly, and released after six days for a ransom of 100,000 euros ($137,000). After her ordeal, she acknowledged that her captors “did horrible things to me,” but added in several media interviews “They also respected me,” and emphasized “They are not monsters.”

In a speech in the Dutch Parliament last Thursday, the Dutch opposition leader Geert Wilders referred to Joanie de Rijke’s case.

“She was raped, but she was not angry. The journalist who went looking for the Taliban in Afghanistan saw her curiosity end in a cruel ordeal of multiple rape. While this would make others angry or sad, this journalist shows understanding. She says: ‘They also respected me.’ And she was given tea and biscuits.”
“This story” Wilders said,

“is a perfect illustration of the moral decline of our elites. They are so blinded by their own ideology that they turn a blind eye to the truth. Rape? Well, I would put this into perspective, says the leftist journalist: the Taliban are not monsters. Our elites prefer to deny reality rather than face it. One would expect: a woman is being raped and finds this unbearable. But this journalist is not angry because the Muslim involved also showed respect. Our elites, whether they are politicians, journalists, judges, subsidy gobblers or civil servants, are totally clueless. Plain common sense has been dumped in order to deny reality. It is not just this raped journalist who is suffering from Stockholm syndrome, but the entire Dutch elite. The only moral reference they have is: do not irritate the Muslims – that is the one thing they will condemn.”
