Freedom of Speech… Tuesday, May 19 2009

Freedom of speech is what makes America great. Restricting speech because it might offend someone is akin to handing over the rest of your freedoms all in one stroke. You can’t have a Constitutional Republic without freedom of speech. It just isn’t possible. When one type of speech is banned, what other type is next? You leftards need to wake up and smell the coffee. This applies to you as well.

Outlawing Opinion
by Chuck Norris

It greatly alarms me that Americans’ constitutional right of freedom of speech is being squeezed out of our culture.

Several years ago, I watched then-”20/20″ correspondent Diane Sawyer interview Saddam Hussein, who was dictator of Iraq at the time. She respectfully confronted him for the atrocities and executions he used as punishments for people who merely spoke out against him, his rule or his politics. Surprisingly naive of America’s constitutional basis, Saddam asked, “Well, what happens to those who speak against your president?” (He clearly was expecting that such speech was also a crime in the U.S. and punishable by law.) Shocked by his sheer ignorance of the U.S. — and somewhat at a loss for words herself — Diane quipped back in answering his question, “They host television talk shows!” Saddam’s facial expression revealed that he was totally confused by her answer.

Throwing a Bone… Tuesday, May 19 2009

Whoa! Is Obama doing something right? I can’t believe my eyes! I guess hell has truly frozen over. It’s a start, well, really a continuation of GWB’s policies, but hey! Better than the alternative. Gotta give him the due, if he gets one right. Now let’s see what he does with the AgJobs bill that is being worked out in the Senate. That goat screw needs to die a painful death.

Take it easy. He’s just throwing you idiots  a bone.

U.S. to Expand Immigration Checks to All Local Jails
Obama Administration’s Enforcement Push Could Lead to Sharp Increase in Deportation Cases
By Spencer S. Hsu

The Obama administration is expanding a program initiated by President George W. Bush aimed at checking the immigration status of virtually every person booked into local jails. In four years, the measure could result in a tenfold increase in illegal immigrants who have been convicted of crimes and identified for deportation, current and former U.S. officials said.

Slick Barry Just Like Slick Willy… Tuesday, May 19 2009

First there was slick Willy, now we have slick Barry. Either way, it’s the same old bullshit, just a different package.

Slick Barry
By
Bruce Walker

Democrats hold the White House and comfortable majorities in both houses of Congress.  Their new president comes from humble beginnings.  He grew up without the moral influence of a father.  Unlike Gore and Kerry, who were born with silver spoons in their mouths, or even Carter, Dukakis, Mondale, or Humphrey, who came from upper middle class homes, Barack Obama has little in common with presidential candidates of either political party, except for one:  Bill Clinton. Both men transcended their humble roots by receiving elite education and succeeding in electoral politics.

Watch how “Barry” behaves.  Listen to his words.  Ignore the inflection in his voice, his body language, his facial expressions, the fawning media, and all the distractions of meaning:  listen to his words.  He says nothing, just as Bill Clinton said nothing, and if you aren’t really paying attention, it sounds good.

Gun Control Poll… Tuesday, May 19 2009

In case you were wondering. Americans tell the pollsters what they think about gun control. There are other polls there as well.

Gun Control

By 47 percent to 34 percent, more Americans think better enforcement of existing gun laws is more likely to decrease gun violence than passage of more laws and restrictions on obtaining guns.

Those in a household where someone owns a gun are even more in favor better enforcement — 61 percent to 24 percent.

Opinion Dynamics Corp. conducted the national telephone poll of 900 registered voters for FOX News from May 12 to May 13. The poll has a 3-point error margin.

Change my butt… Tuesday, May 19 2009

It seems that things may turn around in 2010. People are actually realizing that the idiots that were occupying Congress in 1994 are the same morons in there now. Ideology does play a role, apparently.

Go figure:

Hope and change: GOP even with Dems in party affiliation for first time since 2005
by Allahpundit

They’ve been within a point or two several times but the last month Republicans were dead even with Democrats (including leaners) was June 2005. It’s a huge swing from a month ago too, from 50/39 to 45/45. What gives? I’d love to say it was the tea parties but the April poll was taken several days after the rallies, not before. Nothing major’s happened in the last few weeks that would account for a sudden shift, either. I can only assume that the scope of Obama’s budget and what it means for future deficits has finally started to sink in. And with health care coming to the floor of the House, not a moment too soon.
