Liberal Qualifications… Tuesday, Apr 21 2009

I saw this was scrawled on the Castle wall, which is where I stole borrowed it from.

17 QUALIFICATIONS TO BE A GOOD LIBERAL

1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.

2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are more of a threat than nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Iran or Chinese and North Korean communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical changes in the earth’s climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUVs.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.
7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.

8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can’t teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

9. You have to believe that hunters don’t care about nature, but PETA activists do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

12. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

13. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, or Abraham Lincoln.

14. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.

15. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn’t worked anywhere it’s been tried is because the right people haven’t been in charge.

16. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag queens and transvestites should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

17. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right-wing conspiracy.

Teen craps pants after deputy surprises him (I changed the title a smidgen)

CENTERVILLE – A teenager suspected of car burglary was so surprised when he opened a car door to find a police officer sitting inside that he messed his pants, police said.

It happened about 1 a.m. Saturday as Salt Lake County sheriff’s deputy Chad Taylor was returning to his Centerville home from working a shift.

MAYPORT NAVAL STATION, Fla. — Navies from the United States and 11 other countries on Monday launched two weeks of war exercises off Florida’s Atlantic coast that will include training in combating piracy and drug smuggling.

Movie Honors Holocaust Hero Robbed of Nobel Prize

By Marc Sheppard

Sunday night, CBS aired the Hallmark Channel presentation of The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler, the amazing story of the Polish Roman Catholic nurse and social worker who smuggled thousands of Jewish children to safety from the Warsaw Ghetto.  If the name sounds familiar, it should — her failed 2007 nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize created quite a stir, particularly in light of who took the honor instead.

Today’s Math Question: When is $8 billion less than $100 million?

By Bobby Eberle

It’s time for a quick lesson on Obama’s version of “new math.” Everything might not be as it seems, but don’t worry, if Obama says it, it must be true right? Today’s lesson focuses on the fact that the budget-busting, deficit exploding, social-engineering, tax and spend Obama has now turned into a deficit hawk.

The Difference Between Them and Us

As I walked through the tea party-goers in Seattle’s Westlake Park last on Wednesday, April 15, I couldn’t help noticing the difference between the people there assembled and the people you see on TV.

The Apology Obama Should Have Given

By Alan Aronoff

President Obama’s famous Apology Tour missed some of the critical aspects of American attitude and behavior throughout history for which we should express regret.

Those Who Secede

By Ed Kaitz

Texas Governor Rick Perry’s recent defense of the 10th Amendment has unleashed a flood of liberal outrage.  To our friends on the left, those who mention the word secession and federal government in the same breath are about as sophisticated as “beady-eyed stump jumpers” to quote from one of Mike Royko’s old columns.  In other words, only a knuckle-dragging right-wing extremist could find a way to oppose President Obama’s benevolent and compassionate autocracy.

Another day, another Obama flip-flop

By Michelle Malkin

More Obama backtracking that will not surprise you, via ABC News:

President Obama suggested today that it remained a possibility that the Justice Department might bring charges against officials of the Bush administration who devised harsh interrogation policies that some see as torture.

How’s the stimulus working out for Caterpillar?

By Michelle Malkin

You’ll remember President Obama’s aggressive lobbying for the porkulus package at a Caterpillar plant in February. Obama grandly promised that if the stimulus passed, Caterpillar would rehire laid-off workers – a claim that was refuted by Caterpillar’s CEO.

How’s it all working out for Caterpillar? Not so well:

Caterpillar Inc., the world’s largest maker of bulldozers and excavators, posted its first quarterly net loss in 16 years and said full-year profit and sales will trail its previous forecast amid a global recession.

Tax Day Tea Party Speech… Monday, Apr 20 2009

Excellent speech from a young lady in Texas. So much for the RAAAACIST crying that the hypocrites on the left are spewing.

Stinginess Beyond Measure

by Allen Hunt

Oseola McCarty, a poorly educated African-American laundry woman in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, gave more to charity in one gift than our Vice-President has given in his lifetime. Last week’s release of the Bidens’ tax returns reveals a troubling character weakness. Stinginess. Unrelenting shameless stinginess.

Obama The European vs Sarko The American

by Rachel Marsden

This week, the London Times exposed French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s frustration with Barack Obama and the media drooling surrounding him. The two have very different leadership styles: Sarkozy actually does something, publicizes it like crazy, then watches as he gets ripped to shreds in France’s overwhelmingly far-left media. Sounds about right for a guy nicknamed “Sarko the American” trying to get something done in Europe. By contrast, Obama says he is going to do something, then watches as the media speculates on how incredibly awesome it will be.

Is Obama Another Jefferson?

by Bruce Bialosky

This entire episode with pirates is just way to cool. Everyone can relate to this story because pirates have been a part of all our lives. Some of us grew up with Treasure Island and Long John Silver. Others envision Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates captivate Americans of all ages.

Diversity pisses me off. It is code for be racist against white males. If we don’t promote the blacks, or females, you’re being racist, or discriminating; it doesn’t matter that the particular black, or female, is less qualified for the position. It happens all the time these days. It’s government sponsored, no less. It’s discrimination, plain and simple.

No Matter How You Slice It, It’s Still Discrimination

by Bobby Eberle

Could the time be coming when American laws finally start to mirror American attitudes toward race? For decades, the Democrats have touted such values as equal rights and equal opportunity, but in reality, their policies have been far, far from that model. Rather than treat each person according to his/her merits, laws (pushed by left wing Democrats) have been put in place to actually favor one race or gender over another.

Channel the Anger Taking to the Streets into a Force for Conservative Change

by Terry Paulson

On April 15th, we interrupted my vacation in Tahoe to participate in a rousing tax-day tea party in Carson City, Nevada. We joined over two thousand souls who were tired of watching President Obama chip away daily at our individual liberties and bankrupt the country we love. To the dismay of liberals and their mainstream media supporters, Americans showed up in the tens of thousands across the United States. These were no parties of the rich gathering in their finery for fundraising tea parties. These were average Americans coming together to take a stand for individual liberty! In doing so, they came face to face with a reassuring reality-they were not alone!

Judge Shocks America’s Conscience

by Ken Blackwell

Recently, a federal court issued a decision that may be the next Supreme Court case in the War on Terror. The court ruled that terrorists held by the U.S. military in Afghanistan are entitled to the writ of habeas corpus, extending a panoply of rights to these detainees. This ruling could have a stunning impact on this and future wars, and bears out just how wrong last year’s major Supreme Court habeas case was.

In the Fray: The Battle for Marriage

by Harry R. Jackson, Jr.

Anderson Cooper is one of the class acts on cable news. He is bright, personable, and very thorough as a journalist. Therefore, on occasion I will compare the coverage of major stories on CNN with both the network news outlets and Fox News. Although I have always liked Cooper’s personal style, I often disagree with his slant on the news.

US to put conditions on Tarp repayment

By Krishna Guha and Daniel Dombey in Washington

Strong banks will be allowed to repay bail-out funds they received from the US government but only if such a move passes a test to determine whether it is in the national economic interest, a senior administration official has told the Financial Times.

21 polo horses die at Fla. match; cause unknown

WELLINGTON, Fla. (AP) – Officials were waiting Monday for test results to find out why 21 polo horses from a Venezuelan team fell fatally ill before a match at a Florida tournament. One veterinarian said it looked like some kind of poison was to blame.

Shortages of ammo and gun accessories cropping up nationwide

Most days are like Christmas for Glen Furtardo.

When he opens boxes sent to the Winchester Gallery gun store in east Fort Worth, he finds out what ammunition he’ll have to stock his shelves with that day as demand for weapons and ammo soars. Reports of heavy sales at gun stores began around the time of Barack Obama’s election as president, and months later, dealers are facing ammo shortages nationwide.

MSM’s Tea Party Cognitive Dissonance

By Kyle-Anne Shiver

In all my years of watching news coverage in America, I don’t believe I have ever witnessed more condescending, amateurish, purely politicized reporting than what just transpired among the liberal MSM covering America’s Tax Day Tea Parties.  The Tea Parties represented a very significant news event.

China only works if we do

My DC neighbor Rick Ballard, a master of invention and a linguist of note, stopped by to show me his newest creation.

“I call it the Way Forward machine,” he said, explaining it was a takeoff on the reverse phenomenon in the movie ,”Back to the Future” where the Professor was able to transport the souped-up De Lorean backwards in time.

Columbine: Still struggling to accept the lessons

(Author’s Note: This article examines facts related to the Columbine massacre and in no way blames first responders or victims.)

Ten years ago today, on April 20, 1999, two “disgruntled” students decided to murder as many people as possible at Columbine High School. Early in their killing spree, they encountered teacher Dave Sanders and “seriously wounded him with a shotgun blast.” Sanders succumbed to his wounds because medical assistance wasn’t available until over three hours later. What happened in the intervening three hours is both disturbing and vitally important in understanding what course of actions will most likely prevent future Columbines.

No O’pology for killing three African youths?

By James Lewis

The pirate standoff was a classic Jack Bauer crisis: Either shoot the three nutters pointing AK-47s at Captain Richard Phillips, or watch him be killed. So Obama gave permission to use all necessary force should Phillips’ life be in imminent danger, and the Navy Captain in charge gave the order to kill the pirates when a gun was pointed at the hostage’s head.

Liberals are Stingy Hypocrites… Monday, Apr 20 2009

I noted this to myself last week. Obama is stingy and didn’t really donate to charity until this last year when he knew he would be under extreme scrutiny. I made mention of this to my wife and decided today to take a deeper look at it.

Someone that makes as much as Obama and his nutter of a wife that will not donate to charity, yet look at the American people and yammers on about fair share this, or redistribute that, should be looked at with a sharper eye than the media is doing. But to put any faith in media might be a bit of a stretch.

The Obamas gave away 6.5% of their income this year! Nice. That’s the highest percentage of their income that has been given to charity since, well, ever. In fact, he has given less than one percent of his income in 2000, 2001, and 2002. He broke that tough one percent line in 2003 and 2004. Barely. In 2004 he began running for public office, his donations peaked at 6.1% in 2006.

During the campaign, both Biden and Obama released their tax returns dating back to 2000. As far as I know, my radio show was the only media outlet to discuss all the candidates’ returns for what they reveal about character and spirit. Generous people are happier than stingy people, more compassionate than stingy people, and more selfless than stingy people. Generosity matters. It reveals who you are.

Dear Mr. President,

All of America was made aware of your 2008 tax returns this week, and at least half of America is likely to be furious.  The figures are staggering.  You earned $2.7 million in 2008, for which I congratulate you.  I have no issue with your earnings.  As a devout capitalist, I commend your ability to earn as much money as you possibly can, and I only wish I were talented enough to acquire such personal wealth.

Garofalo is a liberal idiot.

Straight up moron. She is the prime example of liberalism being a mental disorder. I put up with the bitch being on 24. Not anymore. Enough. FOX just needs to get rid of that stupid bitch.

She wouldn’t know racism if it was standing in front of her and thumping her on her ugly fat head.

Liberal actress says tea parties were racist

Liberal actress and political activist Janeane Garofalo, in all seriousness, said activists who attended tea parties are racists with dysfunctional brains in a recent prime-time television appearance.

Friendly Audience: Teabagging Network MSNBC Makes Deal With Napolitano; Only One Question Permitted on Extremist Report

As if they needed a deal from Teabagging, Inc.: MSNBC had only planned to ask one question. And that hard-hitting, probing question was to be:

Republicans are making political hay over this report, but really, it’s important we keep an eye on the rightwing crazies and it’s just transparently partisan for them to suggest otherwise, isn’t it?

Why isn’t this news? If this happened under Bush’s watch, you’d never hear the end of it. This would be spouted across every liberal rag and media outlet across the country. Hypocrites.

U.S. phone intercepts go beyond legal limits: report

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The National Security Agency intercepted Americans’ e-mails and phone calls in recent months on a scale that went beyond limits set by the U.S. Congress last year, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.

Citing unnamed intelligence officials, it said the NSA had engaged in “‘over-collection’ of domestic communications of Americans.” The sources variously characterized the practice as significant, systemic or unintentional, the Times said.

Mr. Obama… Please tell me what a ‘working’ American is

On tax day, when hundreds of thousands of people gathered at tea parties large and small, Barack Obama was making a speech about taxes. Not once did he mention the protests going on around him. Not once did he acknowledge that Americans across the country are fed up with his policies and the policies of all tax and spend politicians. Not once did he mention that the tax burden was too high for all Americans and that the debt he was leaving us will be crushing.

He hasn’t backed off of the AWB at all. The MSM says he has, but that isn’t what he said in Mexico…

You better pay attention people.

Full news conference transcript of Presidents Obama and Calderon

REPORTER: Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you, Mr. President, as well. President Obama, as a candidate for your office, you said that you wanted to see the assault ban weapon – the ban on assault weapons reinstated. Your attorney general has spoken in favor of this. Mexican officials have also spoken in favor of it. But we haven’t heard you say that since you took office. Do you plan to keep your promise? And if not, how do you explain that to the American people?

Now, having said that, I think none of us are under any illusion that reinstating that ban would be easy. And so, what we’ve focused on is how we can improve our enforcement of existing laws, because even under current law, trafficking illegal firearms, sending them across a border, is illegal. That’s something that we can stop.

And, President Calderón – I’m sorry, if I may – would you like to see this ban reinstated? And have you raised that today with President Obama? Thank you.

OBAMA: Well, first of all, we did discuss this extensively in our meetings. I have not backed off at all from my belief that the gun – the assault weapons ban made sense.

And I continue to believe that we can respect and honor the 2nd Amendment rights in our Constitution, the rights of sportsmen and hunters and homeowners who want to keep their families safe to lawfully bear arms, while dealing with assault weapons that, as we now know, here in Mexico, are helping to fuel extraordinary violence – violence in our own country, as well.

Grab your ankles friends. The Democrats are running things and Teh One is steering the ship. Don’t let the tax day tea party end. It’s tax day every day. Fight the left tax and spend morons as well as those on the right. Cut government spending…FIRE Congress!

Michelle Malkin: Million Taxpayer March

Let’s use liberal math to calculate attendance at this week’s nationwide Tax Day Tea Party protests. When left-wing activists make crowd estimates, the algorithm is: six figures = one million. An incomplete survey of newspaper accounts and organizer estimates pegged the Tea Party protest population at a minimum of 250,000. We can now, therefore, officially call it the Million Taxpayer March.

Mona Charen: CNN Versus the Tea Parties

When thousands of people in all 50 states assemble to protest government policy, you might suppose that this is news. Not according to the coverage on the front pages of the Washington Post, New York Times, or the Wall Street Journal. The “tea party” rallies went unmentioned. In Washington, D.C., despite temperatures in the 40s and a driving rainstorm, about a thousand demonstrators assembled across from the White House. The front page of the Times found space for a big story with accompanying pictures of competing public demonstrations in Kabul, Afghanistan, but not a word about the American protestors.

The Sting, in Four Parts

WASHINGTON — Franklin Roosevelt gave us the New Deal. John Kennedy gave us the New Frontier. In a major domestic policy address at Georgetown University this week, Barack Obama promised — eight times — a “New Foundation.” For those too thick to have noticed this proclamation of a new era in American history, the White House Web site helpfully titled its speech excerpts “A New Foundation.”

Nepolitano should be fired. If the Bush administration had so much as implied this against the left, we’d still be hearing about it. This is BS. Fire that bitch!

David Limbaugh: Homeland Security Slanders

There has been a lot of outrage over the Department of Homeland Security’s leaked summary report on “Rightwing Extremism,” but by far its most odious aspects are its implications that military veterans are fertile targets for radical, violent groups and that right-wingers are inclined toward racism.

Thomas Sowell: Magic Numbers in Politics

Words are not the only things that enable political rhetoric to magically transform reality. Numbers can be used just as creatively– and many voters are even more gullible about statistics than they are about words, apparently because statistics seem more objective.

It was my first time protesting. If the crap that is going on continues, I doubt it will be my last.

Not Something We Do?

The Tax Day Tea Parties may have been a surprise to some conservatives, but the groundwell is very real.

A few months ago, as bailouts were booming and budgets were busting, I wondered how long it would take for conservatives to actively respond.  Outside of the world of talk radio and opinion columns, I felt the American public needed a voice, a venue, and a vindication for the debt-multiplying and partisan-flaunting policies imposed upon us by our new president.  To my dismay, however, my questions were largely ignored.

Nicely said here. Anyone listening?

Obama flunks on social pathology

Social pathology: crack and heroin epidemics, family violence, out-of-wedlock births, abortion as “just another option,” alcoholic mothers having brain-damaged babies, violent and uncontrollable schools, constantly irresponsible and self-destructive behavior, endemic crime. Obama has seen that for twenty years in South Side Chicago, and it is well-established that social pathology is directly responsible for the failure of the “structurally poor” to rise out of their misery

The Planet Cools While Romm Burns

According to blogger Joe Romm of Climate Progress, websites and writers daring to question greenhouse gas orthodoxy are guilty of endangering the “health and well-being of countless billions of people.”  And in a surprisingly erratic response to recent criticism, the dangerous “deniers” this modern day prophet of doom singles out for suppression are American Thinker and its new environment editor.

It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it…

Shilling for the Democrat Party can be stressful apparently

I kid you not:

“Journalists can experience powerful frustration and demoralization,” said Dr. Ochberg, “especially when they go literally to the ends of the earth and subject themselves to physical and emotional risk. And they realize that their job is to bring back information that only falls on deaf ears. All their work might just end up in flaming passion and no solution.”

DHS ignored civil-liberties lawyers’ warnings on report; Update: Senators demand data, explanation

The DHS pushed its report out on right-wingers in one hell of a hurry, according to the AP.  Internal reviews of the document showed concerns over potential civil-liberties violations before its publication, but DHS ignored them in order to quickly make the document public.  What was the rush?

JOHN LOTT: ABC’s Shameful ’20/20′ Experiment

Gun control advocates look desperate. Last Friday night, on April 10, ABC aired a heavily promoted, hour long “20/20″ special called “If I Only Had a Gun.” It is ABC’s equivalent of NBC’s infamous exploding gas tanks in General Motors pickups where NBC rigged the truck to explode. With legislation in Texas and Missouri advancing to eliminate gun-free zones at universities, perhaps this response isn’t surprising.

The show started and ended by claiming that allowing potential victims to carry guns would not help keep  them safe — not even with hundreds of hours of practice firing guns.

No mention was made of the actual multiple victim public shootings stopped by people with concealed handguns nor did they describe who actually carried out such shootings. Instead, ABC presented a rigged experiment where one student in a classroom had a gun. But sometimes even the best editors can’t hide everything the camera sees.

A Couple Must Reads… Friday, Apr 17 2009

This is an absolute must read.

An Anniversary of Heroism and Shame

“Freedom is our goal!” roared commander Pepe San Roman to the men assembled before him 48 years ago this week. “Cuba is our cause! God is on our side! On to victory!”

Fifteen hundred men crowded before San Roman at their Guatemalan training camps that day. The next day they’d embark for a port in Nicaragua, the following day for a landing site in Cuba named Bahia De Cochinos (Bay of Pigs). Their outfit was known as Brigada 2506, and at their commander’s address the men (and boys, some as young as 16) erupted

Saving the Republic

“What can we do to win back our country?” Conservatives are asking themselves that question — with increasing urgency — every day.  They are desperately groping for a way to stop the twin avalanches of deficit spending and socialist programs that are hurtling down and shattering the once great mountain of a free republic that was the United States of America.

Today’s Reading List… Thursday, Apr 16 2009

Don’t have time to do much analysis for the next few days, but I do have a list of reading for you.

It should be more than Republicans criticizing the DHS. But since liberals are in the tank for Obama, heads so far up his ass that they can’t see any day light, it’s not surprising to me.

Republicans criticize report on right-wing groups

WASHINGTON (AP) – Republicans on Wednesday said a Homeland Security Department intelligence assessment unfairly characterizes military veterans as right-wing extremists.

House Republican leader John Boehner described the report as offensive and called on the agency to apologize to veterans.

I have two words: FIRE Congress.

Thousands of Anti-Tax ‘Tea Party’ Protesters Turn Out in U.S. Cities

Chants like “Give me liberty, not debt” and “Our kids can’t afford you” were heard across several U.S. cities Wednesday as anti-tax “tea party” protesters took to the streets to voice their opposition to big government spending.

Thousands of protesters — some dressed in colonial wigs with tea bags hanging from their eyeglasses — showed up in states from California to Kentucky to Massachusetts, holding signs and reading speeches lambasting the Obama administration’s tax-and-spend policies.

Georgetown Says It Covered Over Name of Jesus to Comply With White House Request

(CNSNews.com) - Georgetown University says it covered over the monogram “IHS”–symbolizing the name of Jesus Christ-because it was inscribed on a pediment on the stage where President Obama spoke at the university on Tuesday and the White House had asked Georgetown to cover up all signs and symbols there.

Fear and Greed Have Sales of Guns and Ammo Shooting Up

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — The way Jay Chambers sees it, the semiautomatic weapons in his firearm collection might be the most promising investment in his financial portfolio.

Like many gun enthusiasts, Mr. Chambers, a manager for a door wholesaler here, believes President Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress soon will reimpose a version of an expired federal ban on the sale of so-called assault weapons. If such a law passes, he figures his collection — enough guns, ammo magazines and weapon parts to assemble about 30 AK-47s, AR-15s and other semiautomatic rifles — could triple in value.

This is funny. Boo freakin’ hoo CNN! You suck.

CNN Reporter at Chicago Tea Party: It’s “Anti-CNN Since This is Highly Promoted By the Right-Wing, Conservative Network Fox”

CNN correspondent Susan Roesgen could barely get through her live shot at the Chicago tea party this afternoon. Over shouts of, “You’re not a reporter,” Roesgen quickly wrapped up an interview with an attendee, then said, “I think you get the general tenor of this. It’s anti-government, anti-CNN since this is highly promoted by the right-wing conservative network Fox.”

CNBC SWEATS ‘OBAMA-BASHING’

Governor Says Texans May Want to Secede From Union But Probably Won’t

Texas Gov. Rick Perry fired up an anti-tax “tea party” Wednesday with his stance against the federal government and for states’ rights as some in his U.S. flag-waving audience shouted, “Secede!”

UNC Liberals: No Free Speech Here

Once again, “progressive” students at a college disrupt an invited speaker, former Congressman Tom Tancredo. From the Raleigh News:

Tom Tancredo didn’t make it through his talk. In fact, he left campus early after protesters interrupted his speech and broke a window.

The Politicization of the Department of Homeland Security

The recently released Department of Homeland Security assessment of rightwing extremism represents an alarming politicization of that huge federal agency.

The 10-pages document is entitled: “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”  Its source is the Extremism and Radicalization Branch of the Office of Intelligence and Analysis Assessment, of the Department of Homeland Security.  (Imagine the size of their security badges.)

Where We Must Make a Stand

There was a time when the Left reflexively sided with criminal defendants.  Rapists like Huey Newton, terrorists like the Weathermen, and bank robbers like Angela Davis were “political prisoners.”  The System was used to crush dissent.  The Left deemed police and prosecutors as the enemy.  The rest of us saw prosecutors as our allies.

Obama Flunks the 3 A.M. Test

While President Obama was speaking in Prague about nuclear disarmament, North Korea delivered the most tellingly timed comment on The Trip. The Pyongyang rouge regime — proprietor of a nuclear arsenal — defiantly launched an intercontinental multi-stage rocket in violation of an explicit U.N. Security Council resolution.  The President used strong words about the rocket launch:

“Rules must be binding.  Violations must be punished.  Words must mean something.”

Obama flunked his first 3 A.M. test.

Tea Parties about Far More than Taxes

Many writers have dubbed the Tax Day Tea Parties as inconsequential, a fad that will die quickly, and of foolish origins that have nothing to do with the American patriots of revolutionary days.  Patriots dumped a ship full of tea into Boston Harbor, these folks contend, to protest one thing: taxation without representation.  We modern patriots have representation and are therefore insane to protest, or so this line of argument goes.

Enemy of the State?

According to the notorious recent government report, I am a “radical right wing extremist.”

If you didn’t vote for Barack Obama, if you’re unhappy with our tanking economy and the government’s complicity in said tanking, or perhaps more odiously, you are a war veteran – you are, for all intents and purposes, an enemy of the state, subject to surveillance by law enforcement and security officials, who have been officially advised of  the danger you represent.

Economic Prosperity vs. Deficit Spending

On April 14th, the US Federal Reserve continued on a path that was almost unthinkable as little as six months ago.

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York bought $7.3 billion in US Treasuries on Tuesday, part of a program to improve conditions in private credit markets and spur lending. The debt bought included notes maturing between 2013 and 2016. Dealers submitted $26.4 billion in debt to be purchased. The Fed will continue its buybacks with a third operation this week, heading towards purchasing $300 billion in Treasury securities over the next six months.

To put this in perspective, $300 billion is larger than the annual entire federal deficit for the years 2005 to 2008 (before TARP).  The Federal Reserve is essentially printing this money.

The Power of the People and the Disgrace of the Media

Thousands and thousands of people took to the streets on Wednesday to send a message. They gathered in groups large and small, waving signs, shouting slogans, and calling for real change. Was this a one-time event or the start of something bigger? I’ll look at it further, but one thing is clear, in many places across the country, people had to brave the wind, rain, and cold in order for their voices to be heard… and they still showed up.

On the other end of the spectrum was the behavior of the so-called mainstream media. Their actions, comments, and coverage of the tea party protests were beyond unprofessional. They showed in one brief day that there is no such thing as journalistic standards and that they will do everything they can to belittle the voice of concerned Americans if that voice runs counter to their left-wing agenda. Pathetic.

The Obama Administration Says We’re Dangerous, Rightwing Extremists

Do you reject “federal authority in favor of state or local authority,” or “government authority entirely”? Are you “dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration”?

If so, you are a dangerous, rightwing extremist according to Obama’s Department of Homeland Security, which bans the use of the word “terrorist” unless it’s applied to us rightwing extremists who, for example, are so extreme as to view the grisly murder of the unborn in their mothers’ wombs as cold-blooded murder.

Obama’s Recipe For Change Not My Cup of Tea

I had no idea how important this week’s nationwide anti-tax tea parties were until hearing liberals denounce them with such ferocity. The New York Times’ Paul Krugman wrote a column attacking the tea parties, apologizing for making fun of “crazy people.” It’s OK, Paul, you’re allowed to do that for the same reason Jews can make fun of Jews.

On MSNBC, hosts Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow have been tittering over the similarity of the name “tea parties” to an obscure homosexual sexual practice known as “tea bagging.” Night after night, they sneer at Republicans for being so stupid as to call their rallies “tea bagging.”

Tax Day Tea Party Report Wednesday, Apr 15 2009

My family participated in the tax day tea party. It was my first time protesting anything. It was the first time for my whole family.

Very interesting indeed.

There were at least 1000 people at this rally. If not more. It started at 5:00 pm and promptly ended at 7:00 pm. It was quite civil, but had a lot of spirit to the protest. There were a few people that drove by that thought they weren’t paying enough taxes, I guess. But, there were more supporters for this cause, than not.

What’s interesting is that it wasn’t just about taxes. Other issues like socialism, propositions, anti-Obama, anti-Congress, even anti-abortion were in the crowd. Even us “right wing extremists” were present. I saw many veterans. A Korean War vet, a Vietnam vet, a Iraqi Freedom vet, and I represented Desert Storm. I am sure there were others, but some didn’t wear any war identifiers, just branch.

Pretty good turn out.

Tax Day Tea Party Wednesday, Apr 15 2009

I’ll be attending a tax day tea party this afternoon.

I’ll take pictures and post them, probably tomorrow.

I’ll be at the one in Rancho Cucamonga.

Signs:

“Cut government spending

FIRE

Congress!”

and

“Economics for Dummies AND Congress,

but I repeat myself…

Spend Less Than You Earn!”

and

“Socialism

CHANGE

We can’t

Afford!”

Party like it’s 1773!
