“The war has gone on longer than a lot of news organizations’ ability or appetite to cover it,” said Jane Arraf, a former Baghdad bureau chief for CNN who has remained in Iraq as a contract reporter for The Christian Science Monitor.
My guess is that the second statement has a lot more in it that is veiled than most people would recognize. I ran the words “ability or appetite” through my Old Media Language Transmogrifier and came up with “Ability” most likely means, with viewer-ship continuing to drop like a stone and Advert revenue being spent in markets and on media that people actually watch and see; the Old Media likely have a great deal less money to spend to cover the bar tabs and security details for the propagandists who run around Iraq looking for the next “victim” of US Forces.

I keep wondering what it is that black folks see in the Democrat Party. It never made sense to me, except for the entitlement aspect, most stances that the Democrats hold are contrary to the normal ideals that I hear expressed by blacks.
In fact, if they actually sat down and looked at the issues and what Democrats really stand for, they wouldn’t vote for them lock, stock, and barrel in every election since FDR. Democrats love the homosexuals. Blacks are generally, about 70%, or so against it. This includes the marriage issue. There are a host of other issues that blacks tend to not agree with Democrats, yet they keep voting for them in droves.

What does Caroline Kennedy have in common with black America? If your answer is not much, I’d tend to agree with you.
When I think of Caroline, I think of Manhattan and Park Avenue, not the Bronx and Brooklyn. I think of Brentwood and Beverly Hills, not Watts and South Central Los Angeles.
But there is something that Caroline and black America do have in common. The Democratic Party.
Whether Kennedy succeeds in her effo rt to slide into Hillary Clinton’s soon-to-be-vacated Senate seat will have little to do with her Democratic Party bona fides. Per her policy positions ticked off the other day, she is in perfect and predictable liberal alignment with party boilerplate. If she fails, it will be for reasons other than her views.
So what exactly is the common political ground that Kennedy bluebloods share with the 90 percent of America’s blacks who vote for Democrats?
A careful look shows the deep internal contradictions of the Democratic Party and the complexity of the political psyche of black Americans.

When Chelsea Banton was born five weeks prematurely, doctors predicted she had 36 hours to live.
Proving them wrong was the first miracle for Chelsea, now an Independence High School freshman.
“She spent the first four months in a neonatal intensive care unit,” recalls her mother, Colleen Banton of Mint Hill.
Before Chelsea was 2, she was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia, the first of several dangerous run-ins with the illness that have made her a familiar face in Presbyterian’s pediatric intensive care unit.

Being listed in fourth place for Time magazine’s “Person of the Year,” as Sarah Palin was for 2008, sounds a little like being awarded the Order of Purity (Fourth Class). But it testifies to something important.
Though regularly pronounced sick, dying, dead, cremated and scattered at sea, Mrs. Palin is still amazingly around. She has survived more media assassination attempts than Fidel Castro has survived real ones (Cuban official figure: 638). In her case, one particular method of assassination is especially popular — namely, the desperate assertion that, in addition to her other handicaps, she is “no Margaret Thatcher.”
Very few express this view in a calm or considered manner. Some employ profanity. Most claim to be conservative admirers of Mrs. Thatcher. Others admit they had always disliked the former British prime minister until someone compared her to “Sarracuda” — at which point they suddenly realized Mrs. Thatcher must have been absolutely brilliant (at least by comparison).

In the wake of yet another stabbing and a bikie shooting, the Australian government has turned to a knee jerk reaction , as always, with more laws, a “crackdown” demonising the legal gun owners. The law abiding are, as always , wearing the idiocy of a government that cannot, will not or refuses to accept that criminals do not obey the law, and that any raft of buybacks, amnesties or other legal mumbo jumbo will result in nothing more than muted laughter and studied ignorance.
The law abiding take care of their weapons and lock them away and obey the raft of rules and regs and make sure than in the case of a home invasion or other crime, their firearm is safely locked away and disassembled, the ammunition stored elsewhere.
God help them if they ever think of using it to defend themselves…the law in this country ensures that any home owner or gun owner that uses said gun for self defence will find themselves in jail for thirty years for attempted murder or murder…that they were using necessary force to defend their homes is, of course, irrelevant.
The rights of the criminal must be respected, says the nanny state. If there is a crime..call the police….and of course, as we all know, the criminal will just sit there and wait for the police to arrive..IF they ever get there.
When seconds count,…the police are only minutes away.
Liberals need to fear her. Oh, wait. They already do. Conservatives need to embrace her. Not enough there I am afraid. That could change in time though.

Look at pop culture, complete with singers who can’t sing, writers who can’t come up with original ideas, reality show participants with few redeeming qualities, and behind the scenes you’ll see white liberal elites who claim to embrace diversity, and you’ll understand why we have a Barack Obama.

Apparently, Caroline “Schlossberg” Kennedy has name recognition, worked for a couple hours a week for a non-profit and has absolutely no public office experience. She is being considered as the replacement for HRC in the Senate. The media and the left are swooning.
Sarah Pain on the other hand, oops, different letter following the name has City Council experience, was a Mayor, and is the Governor of the largest state in the union. And she apparently, at least according to the afore mentioned lunatics has no experience to be the Vice-President of these her United States.
Funny shit that.
She has more experience than Kennedy, Biden, and the Obamasiah combined.

A study by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops concluded 10,667 young people were sexually mistreated by priests between 1950 and 2002.
Shakeshaft’s study, however, estimates that roughly 290,000 students experienced some sort of physical sexual abuse by a public school employee between 1991 and 2000 alone.
If female employees are responsible for 40 percent of those crimes, that means America could be facing an average of more than 11,000 instances of women abusing students in school each year – in other words, more cases in one year than were reported in 50 years of Catholic priest abuse.

David Paterson’s new $121 billion budget for the Empire State and how Paterson’s FDR, leviathan-government tactics are surely a prelude to what America can expect in the first 100 days of a Barack Obama administration.
Rush Limbaugh is often fond of saying, “Liberals are liberals first.” What this means to me is that liberal Democrats crave power, money and control over “We the People” more than anything else in the world. Using the ubiquitous power of the State over the people is what animates them. Raising taxes for a liberal is like a “street tax” the Mafia imposes on legitimate businesses for “protection.”

LOS ANGELES – Majel Barrett Roddenberry, “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry’s widow who nurtured the legacy of the seminal science fiction TV series after his death, has died. She was 76. Roddenberry died of leukemia Thursday morning at her home in Bel-Air, said Sean Rossall, a family spokesman.
At Roddenberry’s side were family friends and her son, Eugene Roddenberry Jr.
Roddenberry was involved in the “Star Trek” universe for more than four decades. She played the dark-haired Number One in the original pilot but metamorphosed into the blond, miniskirted Nurse Christine Chapel in the original 1966-69 show. She had smaller roles in all five of its television successors and many of the “Star Trek” movie incarnations, although she had little involvement in the productions.
