This is the kind of shit that gives gun owners a bad name. You just can’t fix stupid. Here’s a prime example.
Authorities Say Vodka-Drinking Father Accidently Shoots, Kills Daughter
MARYSVILLE, Wash. — A father arrested after his 6-year-old daughter was shot to death in their Washington state home allegedly told police he had been drinking double shots of vodka while cleaning his guns.
Court papers say Richard Peters told detectives he had asked his daughter, Stormy, to bring him the .45-caliber handgun Sunday. He said he must have pulled the trigger, and the girl fell to the floor. She was pronounced dead Monday.
Bail for Richard Peters, 42, was set Monday at $250,000. He has been arrested for investigation of first-degree manslaughter.
His attorney, Annika Carlsten, requested that Peters be released from jail, The Herald newspaper of Everett reported. She argued that Peters isn’t a flight risk, or a danger to himself or the community.
A phone message for Carlsten was not immediately returned Tuesday.
The Snohomish County sheriff’s office said two other children were removed from the home by Child Protective Services.
Military and Politics Iraq 16:40
Between 2007 and 2008, I got to know a man in South Baghdad whose codename was “Bishop.” This is the short story of his life. His parents were Kurdish Sunnis. They moved to Baghdad 34 years ago – recently married and excited to make a new life for themselves and create a family. Bishop’s real name was Bashar Akram Ameen; the name given to him when he was born on October 6, 1978 in the Abu Ghraib apartments in Baghdad. Bashar had three sisters and one brother. His schooling included graduating from a Baghdad high school in the class of ’96 and attending the Agriculture College of Baghdad University from 1997 until 2002 when he graduated. America had just set its sights on toppling Saddam.
Shortly after graduating, Bashar began service in the Iraqi Army Reserve, but that lasted only three months, because the U.S. crushed a great part of the Iraqi Army and then officially dissolved the rest. For three months, Bashar was one of those unemployed young men we worried about. He got a job in October of 2003 as a bodyguard for an Iraqi judge. His first job didn’t last long because insurgents assassinated the judge. Feeling lost and a bit frightened, Bashar decided to look for a “safer” job, and began interpreting for, as he called it, “the Sally Port Security Company” in al-Mansour, Baghdad. Insurgents in his neighborhood figured out that he was working for an American company, and on February 21, 2006, as he left his job at 6:00 pm, they started shooting at him in his car, “…but I miraculously survived,” Bashar explained to me, “and that was the reason to leave my job at that company.”
Axis of Idiots and Political Correctness and Politics Prop 8 16:40
More on Prop 8. The left-wing assholes of this state are still at it. And the leadership in this state is still, nowhere to be found. It is shameful that these idiots are allowed to do this. If this had gone the other way, I guarantee that this would not have happened. The churches would not have gone into Gavin Newsome’s San Fran Freako doing the things that the homosexual mafia is doing now.
If anything, I think that the straight and pro-prop 8 folks should start boycotting any and all businesses that cater to the homosexual mafia. I for one will do so. So, fuck off Ford, GM, and the rest of you idiots that think that homosexuality is the “in thing” these days.
I am still at a loss though. I think the homos should go into Watts, and South Central L.A. and preach their bullshit there. I am sure it won’t be such an easy mark. Protest there and tell them how they are bigots, and such. You morons don’t have a clue.
The insane rage of the same-sex marriage mob
Before election day, national media hand-wringers forged a wildly popular narrative: The Right was, in the words of New York Times’ columnist Paul Krugman, gripped by “insane rage.” Outbreaks of incivility (some real, but mostly imagined) were proof positive of the extremist takeover of the Republican Party. The cluck-cluckers and tut-tutters shook in fear.
But when the GOP took a beating on Nov. 4, no mass protests ensued. No nationwide boycotts erupted. Conservatives took their lumps and began the peaceful post-defeat process of self-flagellation, self-analysis, and self-autopsy. In fact, there’s only one angry mob gripped by “insane rage” in the wake of campaign 2008: The mob of left-wing, same-sex marriage activists incensed at their defeat in California. Voters there approved a traditional marriage initiative, Proposition 8, by 52-48.
Instead of introspection and self-criticism, however, the sore losers who opposed Prop. 8 have responded with threats, fists, and blacklists.

I do not believe that Congress critters should be allowed immunity for everything that they spout off. I can understand it at certain points, but when you slander other people, that should not be one of them.
Are Lawmakers Immune From Lawsuits?
Tue, 11/18/2008 – 16:10 — Judicial Watch Blog
A federal appellate court will decide whether to uphold a judge’s order to depose a congressman sued for defamation by the U.S. Marine sergeant he accused of engaging in “cold-blooded murder and war crimes” in Iraq.
The key questions before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia are whether the veteran lawmaker has absolute immunity and did he act within the scope of employment in making the outrageous statements to the media about a private citizen. A three-judge panel is hearing arguments today.
The case involves John Murtha, the controversial Pennsylvania Democrat who recently made headlines for calling his constituents “racist” and “really redneck.” The 17-term U.S. representative claimed that Marines involved in the 2005 Haditha slayings were cold-blooded killers and he compared the event to the deliberate 1968 massacre of hundreds of civilians at My Lai in Vietnam.

The Army is developing some good shit. This is high on the list of potential life savers for the 21st century.
‘Quick Kill’ Active protection System to Protect Current, Future Combat Vehicles
The U.S. Army is developing a family of Active Protection Systems (APS) as part of its Future Combat Systems (FCS) ground-force modernization program. FCS is designed to bring Soldiers into the 21st century by equipping them with state-of-the-art vehicles, communication capabilities, sensors and protective systems. In the summer of 2008 the system has passed a major milestone by completing successful stationary and moving target intercept tests. These tests represent a significant step in design verification testing for the system, which includes defeating multiple incoming projectiles simultaneously and while on the move — a unique capability of the APS.
